“Mahasiddha” (Sanskrit: maha - great, siddha - achiever) is a name used to describe a collection of rebellious saints who attained spiritual awakening by disregarding convention, living by the guidance of their hearts, and penetrating to the core of life. In this course, I will share with you 10 people from recent history who have embodied the spirit of Mahasiddha, and the lessons we can learn from their example. By studying these modern, rebellious archetypes, we can work toward cultivating those qualities within and reinvent ourselves - moving closer the most authentic version of ourselves. Because only then can we be of the greatest service to all living beings. This course will combine storytelling, meditation, mindfulness, breathwork, writing, Tantric Buddhist techniques, and contemplative psychotherapy to help you to step boldly forward into your own unique authenticity through reawakening the Mahasiddha qualities innate to you. In this day and age, Mahasiddhas may not be formally recognized as such. Still, there are many contemporaries whose lives, missions, messages, and acts of service have earned them the honorary title of “modern-day Mahasiddha.” These visionary people have masterfully taken ownership of their lives and synthesized their experiences (the negative and positive together) into greater wisdom that they share to benefit the world. They have evolved beyond their circumstance, reinventing themselves, unshackled from their past. They are stunning examples of intentional living and the power of mindfully responding (rather than reacting) to the ups and downs of life. They have reinvented themselves! The spirit of the Mahasiddhas inspired me to create this course because it celebrates how radical, rebellious, and authentic energy can move us all closer to the fullest, most aligned versions of ourselves. The Mahasiddhas exemplified that by accepting all aspects of our life, the good and the bad together, we can move forward as one integrated, fully-realized whole.
