Take a position that supports awareness.
And begin to experience the body and the breath settling.
Feeling your body and the earth body holding you.
Bring awareness to the breath moving through your body.
Air moving in.
Air moving through,
Air moving out.
Feel the sensations of air breathing you.
Now take a few moments to soften and rest in the presence of earth and air.
The body and the breath always with you.
Always in present time.
In this reflection,
We practice establishing our intent to live in ways that support racial well-being and social harmony.
So consider for a few moments actions you might take.
To contribute to racial well-being and social harmony.
Daily practices of goodwill and well wishes.
What do you see yourself doing?
What is the attitude of the mind that you're bringing to moment to moment experiences,
Perceptions,
Assumptions?
We often will need a practice,
A daily practice,
A way of reminding ourselves of our good intentions.
Consider the following practices.
Or create practices of your own as you contemplate this meditation.
Staying connected with the body and the breath throughout.
Bringing relaxed awareness.
To these considerations.
For peace.
My own and that of others.
I will practice compassion by noticing how I might be killing the spirit.
Of another are deliberately harming other living beings.
For well-being,
My own and that of others.
I will practice kindness.
By willingly learning about myself as a racial being and my impact on others.
For contentment,
My own and that of others.
I will practice generosity by not taking more than I need and not taking what is not freely offered.
For well-being,
My own and that of others.
I will practice kindness by not engaging in sexual thoughts and actions that are harmful,
Denigrating,
And oppressive.
For safety,
My own and that of others.
I will practice courage by not speaking in ways that are false or divisive.
And by speaking in ways that share the responsibility and alleviate the weight of racial oppression.
For peace,
My own and that of others.
I will practice compassion by working for social justice in ways that enhance understanding,
Connection,
And healing.
For safety my own and that of others.
I will practice constraint by not clouding my mind with mind-altering intoxicants.
Including habitual insensitivity,
Disrespect,
And obliviousness.
Continue to practice in this way.
Repeating or creating phrases slowly,
Quietly,
And gently.
Notice the quality of heart and mind that is present.
Notice the movement between the heart opening and closing,
Welcoming both the restraint and its release as it is experienced in the body.
And now allow these phrases to kind of naturally subside.
And rest in whatever silence.
Stillness.
Gladness and grace that is here and now.
