I am alone. Alone with my darkness. Alone with my thoughts of sorry and regret. Chasing me like wild hungry dogs. Who blindside my light in the softness of surrender. I am alone. Now and again. Yesterday and tomorrow. Right here. Right now. Unseen. Lost in the woods. With no compass, Guide or torch. I am alone. With the complex structures that my mind builds for me. That fog my inner view. That limit me to truly engage in my own life. And become what I am. I am alone. And it hurts to think of words like purpose without a partner or a friend. Without the comfort of outside confirmation. Someone. Anyone. Who is here to tell me you are loved. I am alone. Permission to feel. Permission to heal. I grant my soul. Despite my struggles. To make me whole. I am alone. My days are long. Blank. With nowhere to go. And no one to hold. The nights were howling in my face. Laughing at my sorry solitude. But I am alone. To wake every day in my space and time. For the most courageous job I ever had to do. To unscar my heart. Through inner work. To calm my mind. Through compassion. To teach myself the things that no teacher could ever show me. I am alone. And every time I confront myself with being this much alone. I create togetherness. Stretch my back and breathe. Stretch my mind and ease. Stretch my soul to squeeze. Feel my heart with my own oxygen. I am alone. But self-love is my eternal company. For being alone is just another word for being all one.
