The center's approach is non-denominational, transcending any particular "-ism." The aim is to maintain and cultivate a place of encounter and openness, allowing individuals to pause, find their inner balance, and ground themselves. This awakening facilitates authentic action and a dynamic presence. In this time of multifaceted upheaval and transition, maturation and rootedness are considered essential prerequisites for a spirituality applicable to everyday life and for developing creative potential. The organization operates as a non-profit entity, funded by membership fees, donations from a circle of friends, and proceeds from events.

The meditation retreats are held in the oldest European meditation center, which originally was an old mill. Then turned into a meditation and contemplation center, a center for retreating, for connecting with yourself, with a personal practice, connecting with others, connecting with nature all around you. Connecting with the stillness within and outside. Nature outside is forests, meadows, rolling hills, a lake and on the retreat land there even is our own waterfall. Really just the best place to spend the turn of the year!

Cooking and eating are part of the meditation practice. We prepare food with care, attention, and simplicity, working together in a relaxed atmosphere. Meals are nourishing, mostly plant-based, and enjoyed mindfully. Eating in silence at times helps us slow down, taste more fully, and appreciate what is offered.

Schedule

The retreat is centered around our mindfulness meditation practice. We have several meditation sessions during the day where we alternate between sitting and walking meditation. You will be guided by our meditation teacher who will share instructions, guided meditations and talks during the retreat. In the afternoon there will be meditation, sharing circles and to finish of the afternoon there will be yoga (for all levels). The evenings are open to be by yourself, share with your fellow participants or maybe even offer a workshop yourself. At New Years Eve you can enjoy our festive 3 course banquet, during which participants are invited (optional) to offer their art and talent. Wether you want to share music, spoken word, movement, theater, comedy, it is basically an open space to co-create the celebration of the turn of the year. At midnight, you can join the midnight meditation. So no fireworks, just sitting in silence (also optional). After the midnight meditation you can toast with a non-alcoholic drink into the new year. And if you feel like there is an optional space for free and intuitive dance and movement. Honestly celebrating the turn of the year in this way is unique and will have a lasting impact on your experience and memories of the retreat.

Testimonials

info

Being safe in Germany. Having space for yourself, your feelings, for who you are and for who you want to be more. While being held by this amazing crew of staff, completely safe.

Anne, The Netherlands

The midnight meditation on New Year's eve was magical. So powerful. That's my personal experience, but everyone else who attended said the same. :)

Paul, Great Britain

Seeing young people discover meditation in a friendly environment is the greatest motivation I can imagine. In parallel, I discover myself, step by step - this experience remindes me where I came from - a fresh beginners mind. Very precious.

Aaren, Germany

I personally would like to thank you one more time for giving me the opportunity to be part of the Winter Meditation Retreat, for being there, for the extraordinary experience and impressions I had in the retreat space and nice discussions. It was a great pleasure to be with you. What you are doing inspires me...

Jelka, Germany

Honestly after spending New Year’s in such a way I think it will be hard for me to ever go back to spending New Year’s another way.
