Our home base, Finca Camino Nuevo, offers comfy rooms, a hot tub and pool, a ceremonial sweat lodge, an art-filled yoga shala, and a healing, alcohol-free environment. April 4–10, 2027.

Location

Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Perched high along the Cordillera de Tilarán mountain range in the Puntarenas province, Monteverde is an internationally renowned ecotourism haven celebrated for its mystical, mist-shrouded cloud forests. This highly biodiverse region sits at an elevation of roughly 1,400 to 1,800 meters, where warm Caribbean winds clash with the mountains to create a nearly constant blanket of moisture. This unique microclimate fuels a thriving ecosystem home to over 2,500 plant species—including hundreds of unique orchids—alongside exotic wildlife like the resplendent quetzal, sloths, and howler monkeys. Centered around the bustling tourism hub of Santa Elena, Monteverde seamlessly blends a rich history of conservation and Quaker dairy-farming heritage with thrilling outdoor adventures, inviting travelers to explore the canopy via hanging bridges, night safaris, and world-class zipline courses.

Testimonials

info

I attended the Costa Rica retreat of Bigger Life Adventures. It was a wonderful experience to do the retreat with Zach and Carrie. The morning meditation and Yoga sessions were perfect to start the day followed by hikes and tours to enjoy Costa Rican natural reserves. The vegan food by Zach was delicious. Carrie and Zach interspersed our week with melodious yoga bhakti songs and ancient Latin indigenous music. Overall a trip worth taking!! Thank you Zach and Carrie!!

If only words could capture the magical experience of this retreat with Carrie and Zach, then I could write a novel. It’s an intangible feeling that can only be experienced, and one that I will remember always. Right from the beginning, even prior to the retreat, Carrie impressed me with her organization and planning skills, and attention to detail which made me feel prepared as a newbie to Bigger Life Adventures. The itinerary prepared for this retreat was well balanced with activities and down time, and of course time for self-reflection and learning. This was a true yoga retreat by name because it really was yoga-focused with daily morning meditation practice followed by an energizing yoga flow, and in the evening, a slow gentle/yin yoga. The food truly blew me away. Zach, you are an amazing creator of plant-based meals, I miss it already. Carrie, you are an inspiration and teacher. Thank you for sharing your love of yoga and sharing your heart. The location, Costa Rica Monteverde was a dream come true. To the group of amazing fellow retreat friends I’ve met, I am so blessed to share my heart and adventures with you. This is why so many of you come back to join Carrie and Zach. I, too, will return to experience the many unforgettable retreats Bigger Life Adventures offers.

Guest requirements

  • Open to all levels — beginners welcome. This retreat is intentionally substance-free and recovery-supportive: no alcohol is served on-site, and the container is designed to be safe and supportive for those in recovery or simply wanting a clean, clear week. Come willing to engage with trauma-informed practices including invitational language, choice, and nervous system awareness throughout. The cloud forest setting involves walking on uneven terrain — moderate mobility helpful but not required.
