Welcome to week 19 of Awaken Creative.
We're on this journey together through 52 weeks of exploring what it means to be in a one year numerologically.
This one in a nine year cycle being that of initiation,
Of starting,
Putting new ideas and ways and means into the world.
Perhaps only the way we think.
Perhaps only a fresh start to how we use our own feelings,
Our own emotions,
And our own responses as we move through this life.
Let's dig in.
Week 19.
There are so many ways to kiss the sky.
I am certain I'm not quoting this properly,
And I want to attribute it to a poem Mary Oliver wrote,
But I'm not sure that's the case.
Without looking it up myself,
I'm going to go ahead and leave it here.
There are many ways to kiss the sky.
Believe it or not,
This comes to me in relation to thoughts I've been having about population.
Not just human,
But the capacity of the earth to support the plants that grow and multiply,
And the animals that do the same.
This too in relation to the work I create.
Because in a way,
Because in a way,
My own creations,
The art in my studio,
Has a relation to this same concept of thought I've been exploring about human population and plant population.
Perhaps just simply the capacity of the earth.
In 1800,
The population of the planet,
Human population,
Was about 1 billion.
In 1900,
Around 1.
8 billion.
If Google's correct,
In 2025,
The population of humanity on this planet earth has exploded to 8.
5 billion.
What does this even mean?
Humanity's capacity to reproduce is astounding.
Not just our own genetic structures,
But through our hands.
I believe this is a gift.
A divine gift.
It's given with generosity and open-hearted spirit.
But like any gift,
It's meant to be used wisely.
I've spoken about my art in the past that I've,
I ponder the theme,
Or the through line,
In the work I create.
And I've said it's about community,
I've said it's about communication,
And communion.
I think,
Too,
It's about this exploration of population.
There's certainly a tie-in between community and population.
My poetry wall.
Repetitive panels spanning a 30-foot wall.
Reciting a poem through each of their titles.
A continuum.
My murmur.
3,
000 4x4 panels flowing and sweeping through the entirety of a gallery.
These,
Too.
About communication.
About a community working together.
About not leadership or following,
But about communing.
I'm not sure what I'm getting at here.
I have no political or social stance.
I'm trying to drive home.
I simply take you on a journey through my thought patterning as I enter the studio today.
As I watch the gardens burst.
The weeds prolificate.
And let my mind wander over this story of humanity and our growth.
I think it's causing me to ponder.
What is enough?
What gets lost?
And what gets found?
In this explosion of development,
Growth,
Creativity.
And what does it mean to still be one?
One individual soul.
Producing and creating on earth.
For me,
It has to come back to trust.
Without it,
There's only despondency.
I trust that my unwavering passion to create is divinely given.
I trust that the population explosion of humanity and the weeds in my gardens is divinely inspired.
Somehow,
In the grand scheme of things,
To be purposeful.
So,
Rather than letting my mind trip over these questions of population growth and explosion and how am I going to tackle these weeds in a generous and healthful way for the planet and my body,
I don't get mired.
But rather wonder what one way in these places I explore and the ways I create what one way is my way to kiss the sky.
What one way is your way to reach out and kiss the sky.
Awaken creative today.
