Nevertheless,

He persevered.

Awaken,

Creative.

This quote was said of Dan Berrigan,

An incredible advocate for nonviolence in his day.

Yet what he also said was,

Peacemaking goes nowhere,

And yet it must be done.

I'll read that again.

Peacemaking goes nowhere,

And yet it must be done.

How's that for a defeatist attitude and yet he speaks the truth.

He's a mystic.

He's an artist.

He's an advocate,

And he's a peacemaker.

Yet he lived in the reality of the world as we know it.

He fought the good fight because he knew it was his to do.

So this begs the question of you,

Of me,

This day nine of 40 days journeying to create a space where awakening,

The creative energy of you,

Is most alive.

What would you do if you knew you would fail?

How's that for a twist?

What would you do if you knew you would fail?

Now I'm not talking about creating the next superconductor,

Or revolutionizing the space industry,

I'm talking about that thing,

That dream,

That passion,

That will that wakes you every day even when you think you're too exhausted to wake again.

That thing is the thing I'm speaking of.

For Dan Berrigan,

It was peacemaking.

He knew the overall picture was a failure,

Impossible if you will,

Yet he never stopped fighting the good fight and believing for that greater dream to be possible.

And in his effort,

A little more of the world,

A few more humans came to realize what peace can be,

And could be,

And maybe even will be.

There's nothing broken here,

There's nothing to fix,

Yet we all must sit in reality.

When you take the time to do this,

The space for this quiet listening,

You begin to perceive what is yours and yours alone,

The job,

Your assignment,

That you sit in the vitality that is needed to get it done,

Despite,

Or in spite of,

It potentially being a grand failure.

Awaken creative.

Listen to that still small voice in you.

It knows what it's doing.

It's quite astute.

It's alive to the reality of the world you live in,

And yet it's there,

Prompting you,

Willing you,

To keep creating.
