Awaken Creative Day 28 Have you heard of Oakum's Razor?
William of Oakum was an early English Franciscan brother,
Teacher.
He had one overriding principle that he taught to his students.
When asked questions,
He said,
Something simply,
The answer that demands the fewest assumptions,
Is likely the correct one.
In other words,
He was instructing his students that should they want to discover the truth of something,
They should shave away all assumptions and beliefs that are complicating the explanation.
Get back to the core.
Shave away the excess.
Release yourself from the layers of contrived blanketing you've put yourself in,
Society's put over you,
The world,
The family has piled upon you.
We're in this desert,
Not only walking through an experience,
Journeying through this desolate yet rich environment,
We're shaving away the layers of contrivance that have blanketed us since we took that first step on day one.
As each layer peels away,
We come closer and closer again to exposing the beauty,
The creativity that is ours,
Ours alone.
Now shared collectively,
Obviously,
That connection is a driving point.
Connection that has diffused the purity of each unique voice is no longer a good connection.
Spending regular time in the desert refines and defines that original unique voice and helps us each to grow more thoroughly and beautifully into our best.
Shed another layer today.
Use Occam's razor to shave away what's not authentically you.
And keep creating.
