Awaken creative.
Welcome.
Day 23.
Today I ask you to simply sit back.
I have a poem for you.
It's one you may recognize.
Maybe only a line or two or maybe the entire thing.
Mary Oliver has so much to say to our ears,
To our culture,
To our climate.
And in this poem I ask you to find something that means something to you.
Write down the line.
Contemplate a passage.
Indulge yourself in how it makes you feel.
How your intuition responds to the beauty of the words.
Mary Oliver's Wild Geese.
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.
Tell me about despair,
Yours,
And I'll tell you about mine.
Meanwhile,
The world goes on.
Meanwhile,
The sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscape over the prairies and the deep trees,
The mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile,
The wild geese,
High in the clean blue sky,
Are heading home again.
Whoever you are,
No matter how lonely,
The world offers itself to your imagination,
Calls to you like the wild geese.
Harsh and exciting.
Over and over,
Announcing your place in this family of things.
Awaken creative today.
Enjoy.
