“Ma” means mother in almost every culture and in Indian culture it is said that "Ma" is perhaps one of the oldest mantra's, all manifestations are Ma, she is the grace that gives life, love and nurturing. By chanting the word "Ma" you are able to tap into all the qualities that she is. This meditation is for expecting mothers who are looking to tap into their mother essence and prepare themselves for the transition that lies ahead. Background music by Chris Collins,

Transcript

We'll begin today's meditation in a comfortable seat.

This might look like supporting the hips with a bolster,

A blanket,

Or some pillows.

Allowing the spine to grow long,

Reaching through the crown of the head,

Bringing the chin into a neutral position,

Allowing the eyes to close if that's comfortable for you,

Opening the muscles of the face,

The jaw,

The throat,

The shoulders,

The chest,

And your belly.

Bringing your attention now to your breath and beginning to trace it as it enters your nostrils and begins to fill your lungs,

Noticing the expansion of your lungs.

Air coming in at the nose,

Expanding the lungs 360 degrees.

The chest,

The ribs,

And the back expand,

And the breath slowly exits back out the nostrils.

Allowing your breath not to be forced,

But smooth and soothing.

Continuing to watch the breath coming in the nostrils,

Expanding the lungs,

And moving back out the nostrils.

Smooth and soothing breath,

Tracing it in and out.

On your next inhale,

Deeply filling the lungs,

And as you exhale,

Reciting,

Ma.

Feeling the full exhale,

Continue breathing in this way,

In through the nose,

Exhale,

Ma.

We'll begin together.

Inhaling Ma.

Exhaling Ma.

Inhaling Ma.

Exhaling Ma.

Ma.

Smooth,

Soothing,

Not forced.

Using your own natural inhalation and exhalation.

Ma.

Pausing.

Returning to that smooth and soothing natural breath.

In through the nose,

Filling the lungs,

Out through the nose.

Feeling the deep vibrations of Ma in your body.

Being held by the loving embrace of your voice.

Taking this time to honor your feminine,

Creative force.

Connecting to your mother essence.

Perhaps taking a moment to think about your mother and your relationship with her during different times throughout your life.

However the power and presence of Ma comes to you.

Allowing yourself to be absorbed by it,

Enjoying being nurtured and cared for.

Noticing if any childhood trauma perhaps begins to surface here.

Letting the divine mother bless you and your inner child.

Letting her love fill you and surround you as you begin to witness and process your emotions.

Letting Ma be present in you.

Let her warm your heart.

Letting Ma ease your fears.

Let her fill you and surround you.
