Handpan For When You Can't Switch Off
by Max Neumann
Recorded live in the garden on a deep Nordlys handpan — a slow medley of the melodies I keep returning to. You will hear the world in this one. A car passing. A tractor somewhere behind the hedge. I left it all in, because that is the practice: not waiting for silence before you settle, but letting the noise be there and softening anyway. The traffic outside is the traffic inside. Both can pass without you following them. Let the handpan be the thing you keep coming back to. When a sound pulls your attention away, notice it, and return. That returning is the whole exercise. Good for a restless mind, an overstimulated day, a pause between meetings, or an evening when switching off feels hard. Best with headphones, volume low. Sit or lie down, let your eyes close, and let the first minutes carry you. (Please do not listen to this track while driving or operating heavy machinery.) If it helps you, come back to it tomorrow — it works best as a small daily return.
