Sit Amidst Heaviness With Celestial Harp And Falling Water
There’s an exceptionally wise thing the designers of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC did: knowing the weight of the history laid out in the main galleries, they gave visitors a place to rest. When you enter the Contemplative Court, you are immediately soothed by the sound of water falling through a skylight, a vast curtain of rain that falls some 40 feet into a pool at the center of the room. You’re invited to sit as long as you need along its sides. When I was there during Juneteenth weekend 2026, I felt inspired and so recorded the fountain audio so that I could create a musical meditation to share the experience when I returned home. This track is the result. May it bring you the same peace in listening I found in playing.
