Amy Zoe Schonhoff

Amy Zoe Schonhoff is a certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher, speaker, and founder of Mindfulness in the Heartland. She works with individuals, communities, and workplaces to cultivate embodied wisdom, compassion, and resilience through secular, trauma-sensitive mindfulness. With more than 30 years of contemplative practice and lived experience shaped by early childhood adversity, Amy brings both professional rigor and a depth of humanity to her work. Rooted in a distinctly Midwestern sensibility — grounded, relational, and practical — her work honors life’s cycles of challenge and renewal while encouraging a deepening connection to ourselves, one another, and the living world. Amy teaches structured MBSR courses, retreats, workshops, community-based practice, workplace well-being programs, and offers keynote presentations. She partners with businesses, nonprofits, therapists, and community organizations to bring credible, trauma-sensitive mindfulness into professional and public settings. Her approach integrates evidence-based methodology with relational warmth, creating environments where participants feel both supported and inspired to grow. Amy serves on the board of The Resilient Activist and is a past board member of MidAmerica Dharma. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, hiking outdoors, dancing, creating a garden sanctuary for pollinators, and exploring the never-ending beauty and mystery of life.
