Take some time to snuggle up and release your concerns with tonight's bedtime guided meditation for overthinking with relaxing rain sounds.

If your mind is restless,

If thoughts are circling like a storm that will not pass,

You're in the right place.

You are not alone in this experience.

Many find that when the world quiets at night,

The mind does not follow.

But tonight we will shift that.

Instead of fighting your thoughts,

We will let them flow like rain until they find their natural rhythm and fade into the background so you can welcome the incoming waves of slumber.

It's time to dream away.

Welcome to Michelle's Meditation Sanctuary.

I am Michelle and as you listen to this meditation,

Let my voice be the voice of a longtime trusted friend.

Steady and familiar,

Guiding you through the ever-changing currents of thought and feeling.

The world outside shifts with the weather.

The rain tapping gently against the window.

The wind stirring through the trees.

But here within the sanctuary of your mind and room,

You have found refuge.

Having someone in your corner can be life-changing.

And as you listen,

Know that my intention is to offer support and help you find serenity.

No matter what storms may pass,

You are safe here.

Wrapped in warmth and ease.

This is your time to return home to yourself.

To treat your mind,

Body,

And spirit with deep appreciation.

In this sanctuary,

There is no judgment,

Only comfort,

Stillness,

And the quiet invitation to relax into deep peace.

Overthinking can be exhausting.

It keeps you awake long past the point of tiredness,

Pulling you into spirals of what-ifs.

But the only what-if that will greet us tonight is.

.

.

What if everything works out?

Whenever doubts creep in,

You will try on this idea like a new article of clothing.

It may feel unfamiliar at first,

But eventually you feel your heart warm as you say to yourself,

What if it all works out?

When you are in a cycle of overthinking,

The mind believes it is helping,

But instead it keeps you up.

And you and your mind need and deserve the sacred time for restorative sleep.

Sometimes the greatest answers come in the silent pauses.

Comforting dreams arrive with insights.

And all the things you overthought are resolved in a precious moment of calm.

A moment that will make you feel good and cared for.

You are worthy of every loving,

Tender moment you may conjure before falling asleep.

You will get more power from a night of sleep than from all the intrusive thoughts that dare to interrupt your rest.

Sleep solves what overthinking cannot.

As we proceed,

One breath at a time,

Find yourself on a new path.

One where you observe your thoughts without getting caught in them.

Where you can step outside the storm and find peace beneath a soft,

Steady rhythm of falling rain.

By the end of this journey,

You will feel lighter,

Your mind clearer,

And every cell in your body will welcome the gift of deep,

Restorative sleep.

Your eyelids are like curtains drawn shut,

Allowing you to go deeper into the haven of your mind.

Here,

You get to call the shots as you settle in and get as comfortable as this moment will allow.

Clear the air with an audible sigh.

Let everything go as you sink into your bed,

Feeling safe and comforted.

When you're ready,

Try in a slow,

Deep breath.

Inhale deeply through your nose,

Filling your lungs to their greatest capacity.

Feel the breath expand in your chest.

Now exhale gently through your mouth,

Letting go in another sigh.

You can add a yawn anywhere you like.

Yawn and sigh till your heart's content.

Indicate with these sounds that you are ready for release and ease.

Again,

Inhale deeply and exhale slowly.

With each breath,

Allow your body to relax further.

As you continue to breathe consciously,

Going deeper and slower with each breath,

Let the sounds of the rain soothe you.

We'll now count down from ten,

Letting the rain guide you to a deeper state of relaxation.

The rain becomes a soul and you feel its calming presence touch each part of your body.

Ten,

The warm rain begins softly on the crown of your head in a soothing,

Gentle pattern.

Nine,

The rain moves down,

Flowing gently across your forehead,

Smoothing away any tightness.

Your brows relax,

Your eyes soften,

Your muscles become like water,

Delicate and fluid.

Eight,

The rain continues,

Traveling to your cheeks and unclenching your jaw.

Tension dissolves in its presence.

Seven,

Feel the pulsating rain travel down your neck,

Massaging out tension.

Your shoulders soften and drop,

Feeling heavy and at ease.

Six,

Now the rain kisses your arms,

Flowing over your upper arms,

Your elbows,

And down to your hands.

Feel the weight of your arms release as the rain alleviates them of tension and you sink deeper into the bed.

Five,

The rain reaches your chest,

Easing any tightness in your heart center.

With each drop,

Your chest softens,

Your breath becomes fuller and more at ease,

And your heart opens to warm feelings of self-care and tenderness.

Four,

Now the rain moves gently over your abdomen in warm undulating ripples.

You expand and contract to its peaceful cadence.

Three,

Feel the rain on your thighs and hips,

Soothing the muscles there.

The heaviness of the rain pulls away any tension,

Leaving your legs relaxed and grounded.

Two,

The rain reaches your knees,

Flowing gently down your calves.

Your legs feel heavy,

Fully supported by the earth beneath you as the rain brings a deep sense of relaxation.

One,

Finally the rain touches your feet and wraps around their soles.

Feel them soften,

Heavy with relaxation as the cool rain flows with ease,

Connecting you with this peaceful moment.

Now your body is at rest,

You deeply surrender like the gentle,

Steady rhythm of the rain.

You are calm,

At ease,

And free of any tension,

Completely embraced by the soothing presence of the night.

As your breath takes on the most natural rhythm it may find on its own,

You recognize how far you have come from mere moments ago.

You feel a sense of fluidity in this dreamy moment.

A few thoughts may pop up,

As they are known to do,

But sense how easier it is to gently guide them away when you feel this relaxed.

And should intrusive thoughts arise,

Envision them like rain streaming down the window,

Landing in a slender stream and floating far,

Far away.

See them blurring in mesmerizing patterns,

Crisscrossing raindrops.

They become a beautiful puddle,

Rippling with each thought or care.

You need not hold them anymore.

The grip of overthinking loosens like the gates of a dam released on this rainy night.

All excess thoughts flow like water.

Allow yourself to drift on nature's lullaby.

The soft,

Steady rhythm of the rain inspires sleepiness.

Each breath and each drop of rain help you drift closer to slumber,

Simply floating down,

Down,

Down into the pleasures of a night full of restoration.

Let the rain be your anchor,

A reminder of how easy it is to float,

Safe and held by this cozy moment.

And as you continue to appreciate the warm,

Dry comforts of your room,

Let your mind conjure cozy thoughts.

Visualize yourself in a quiet refuge,

A place where you most like to hunker down during a rainstorm.

This could be a beloved place you've been before.

It might be a place you've read about or seen in a movie.

Or it could be something that you imagine right now,

As this dreamy time makes it easy to envision a sanctuary of your own design and choosing.

The rain falls softly,

Enough to create a gentle silver mist.

As you approach the place you most wish to be as the storm rolls in,

The ground glistens,

Reflective of any light around you.

You walk carefully and in finding your balance and feeling the mist on your face,

You are drawn out of your mind and into the present moment.

All that matters is right now.

The rain falls all around,

Intensifying from a barely perceptible pattern into a steady stream.

A warm light glows softly in the misty twilight,

Guiding you to a warm,

Cozy space.

A place for refuge,

A place for dreaming.

Perhaps it's been a long time since the last rainfall like this and the earth welcomes it as much as you do.

The rain brings such relief,

A permission slip from Mother Nature to slow down and take care of yourself.

The air is rich with a scent of petrichor,

That earthy grounding aroma that rises when rain first falls after a dry spell.

You feel the silky veil of rain cool against your skin,

Refreshing and light.

There is nowhere else to be,

Nothing else to do,

Only this moment.

You ascend the steps to your chosen abode.

Perhaps a cozy cabin tucked among sequoia trees or white pines.

It's wooden beams exuding a scent of cedar and rustic charm.

Or maybe a seaside cottage with wide windows where the sound of the rain merges with the rhythmic hush of distant waves.

Or perhaps the city of Hardman,

Surrounded by cobblestone streets that shimmer.

Or maybe it's a less conventional place.

A lighthouse,

A tiny home,

A tree house,

A houseboat.

As you step inside,

A fragrant rush of dry air welcomes you,

Carrying with it the familiar comforting scent of home.

It is an aroma that lingers in your memory,

One that has followed you through time.

A blend of things you've never quite deconstructed but now sense.

Each individual aroma comes to you in waves as you step inside the dry comfort.

You remove your wet attire and stand in the entry and suddenly you recall home is not just a place,

It is a feeling.

And you carry it within you,

Always.

And knowing that no matter what happens,

No matter where you go,

You are always at home with yourself.

You feel a deep confidence resonating through you.

You create safety.

You create your own peace.

The glow of candlelight welcomes you with golden ambient warmth.

A plush and inviting towel,

Still warm from the dryer,

Sits in a wicker laundry basket.

You take your time drying off,

Savoring the contrast of warmth against your skin.

Without erasing mind,

You are able to truly appreciate and feel the softness of the threads and savor the smell of fresh laundry.

You marvel in the amazing simple pleasures that elevate the human experience.

Such little wonders as a candlelit room and a freshly laundered towel make you feel taken care of.

They make you feel safe.

And in this moment of safety,

You consider that most of the things we worry about never come to be.

And they do not deserve the power to distract us from these soothing,

Warm moments.

A heady wave of sleepiness comes over you and you make your way to a bedroom.

Cozy pajamas are folded neatly at the end of the bed,

Also still warm from the dryer.

As the rain comes down harder onto the roof and wraps on the windows,

You yearn to sink into the bed and let nature's rainy soundtrack lull you to sleep.

You change into these pajamas and the well-worn fabric conjures a wave of memories.

These evocative memories come to life of the softest,

Coziest glimpses of the past that live within you.

As your arms enter the sleeves,

You recall other deeply appreciated garments through time,

Offering warmth and comfort.

And suddenly,

Your mind strings together a delicate thread of moments.

Of oversized sweaters or sweatshirts.

Of blankets pulled up to your chin on chilly nights or mornings.

Of a beloved robe,

Its fabric softened by time and care.

These memories settle over you,

Familiar and reassuring.

You move toward the bed but before you climb in,

Something draws you to the window.

You hesitate,

Listening and peering through the kaleidoscope of colors,

From light as it refracts through the streams of rain.

With a steady,

Easy rhythm,

It has a mesmerizing effect.

Undialing down your pulse and deepening your breath,

The rain reminds you that beauty can be found in the things we often dread.

There may be times you wish it wouldn't rain,

But right now,

The soporific deluge is setting you up for the perfect night of deep sleep.

There are times that endless sunlight and unbroken skies are at the heart of your deepest wishes.

But tonight,

You welcome the rain.

You reach for the window,

Slowly easing it open.

A cool,

Aromatic breeze carries the scent of fresh rain and wet stone.

The most pleasant aromas of the outside world are enhanced by the clean,

Cool rain.

The night air circulates through the space,

Mingling with a dry warmth inside.

The contrast is striking,

Yet perfect.

The chill of the night air against the dry,

Warm haven.

You breathe in deeply,

Feeling as though you are part of something vast and unshakable.

The world slows and your mind slows along with it.

A yawn rises and you let out an audible sigh.

Your feet lead you to the bed,

Becoming heavier with each step.

As they land on the floor,

Tiredness takes hold and your mind is quiet,

Still.

So very,

Very quiet.

Your breath is easy.

You peel back the bedding,

Noticing your blankets are exactly as you need them to be.

Perhaps weighted and thick,

Or light and airy.

Whatever brings you comfort is here to be discovered and enjoyed.

The pillows,

The fabrics,

The temperature,

And the firmness of the bed are all catered to your preferences.

How easy life becomes when you are in tune with your physical needs and they are all met.

You climb atop the mattress and it supports you,

Easing where you need softness,

Remaining firm where you need support.

The pillows adjust to the curve of your head and neck,

Allowing you to fully release the weight of the day.

You've carried enough today and you need not carry it anymore.

The rain continues its persistent song outside and you close your eyes on the world.

And this time,

You find yourself in a perfect sanctuary within.

Your focus drifts to the rain and then back to sleepiness.

A sweet,

Delicate dance of the mind.

Sometimes you listen to the trickling,

Other times you notice the short,

Silent beats between droplets.

Beyond the soothing,

Sleep-inducing sounds,

There is a gentle wisdom in this rhythm.

The rain falls without hesitation,

Without doubt,

Does not try to change its course or rush to an end.

It simply is.

And as you sink deeper into the comfort of your bed,

You realize you can do the same.

You can simply exist,

Surrendering,

Giving in to the support of your safe space.

Giving in to the support of this moment and the night.

Every now and then,

A peaceful thought arises,

Coming in like a whisper,

A prelude to your dreams.

Let them emerge in the quiet safety of this moment.

Maybe you think of the gentle warmth of a heated blanket,

The plush feel of a rug by the fireplace,

Or a time you settled into the coziest,

Oversized armchair that wrapped around you like a hug.

Perhaps you recall the soft,

Worn pages of a favorite book,

Or the steady flicker of candlelight in the dark.

Let your mind wander,

Let everything that soothes you,

Everything that warms your heart and elevates your spirit,

Usher you to sleep.

The more you focus on softness in the world,

The more proof of it the world delivers.

And now,

It delivers a steady stream,

Like the rain,

Of nurturing,

Reassuring ideas.

And now that you feel safe,

It's now that your nervous system stands down.

You are able to hear and receive these messages.

You are not your thoughts,

You are not the storm.

You are the witness,

The listener,

The one who observes from a place of calm.

You are your peacekeeper.

The rain continues to fall,

And you have changed.

You are no longer lost in the storm.

You are resting beneath it,

Peaceful,

Undisturbed.

Erasing thoughts have slipped away,

Dissolving as easy as mist on this rainy night.

In between worlds,

Delicately hovering and flowing from wakefulness to sleep.

Dipping your toes in slumber,

A new awareness unfolds within you.

The rain has washed something clean,

Revealing the quiet wisdom beneath your thoughts.

And knowing that you are safe.

That you are held.

That you are not defined by the worries of the day,

But by the peace you are capable of creating in this very moment.

You may begin to let go of my voice,

Welcoming the incoming sleep that laps at you,

Tugging at you with soft,

Dreamy waves.

The rain continues to soothe,

Bringing you deeper and deeper to sleep.

And you may return and listen whenever you like.

But for now,

Right now,

You welcome rest.

Finding your calm.

Finding your sanctuary.

Finding your night of deep,

Healing sleep.

It's time to dream away.

Michelle, thank you kindly for this soothing bedtime story. I put it on repeat & fell asleep so quickly, I never heard anything except the breathing exercises at the beginning. I woke up at 5 am & went back to sleep again, waking when the alarm went off. I thought I could hear something & fell asleep again. Getting up now at 9am & still don’t remember anything. I am going to try again tonight. This bedtime story has hypnotic powers to put me to sleep fast & soundly. Thank you kindly for giving me the gift of restful sleep in these uncertain times. πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—
