When Sorry Is Not Enough: How To Repair After A Rupture In Your Relationship

With Stacey Bennington | Psychotherapist & Coach

Every relationship has ruptures. Moments where something was said or done that left one person hurt, confused, or withdrawn. What separates relationships that thrive from ones that slowly erode is not whether those ruptures happen. It is what comes after. In this course you will learn why sorry is often not enough on its own, what the nervous system actually needs to feel safe again after a rupture, how to offer repair in a way that the other person can actually receive, and what to do when repair keeps not working. Real repair is one of the most important relationship skills nobody ever taught us. This course is about changing that.

Having walked her own path of healing a fearful avoidant attachment style, she brings both clinical depth and lived experience to her work. Her approach blends attachment theory, nervous system regulation, hypnotherapy, and subconscious reprogramming, meeting the mind in the deeply receptive states where lasting change takes root. Her meditations, sleep tracks, and mini courses are designed to help you feel seen in your patterns, understand where they began, and gently rewire those patterns at the root, so you can move through your relationships and your life with more security, calm, and confidence.

A lot of people think that conflict or hurt feelings in a relationship means something is fundamentally wrong with the relationship. Lesson 2

Why Sorry Is Often Not Enough

Most of us were taught that an apology fixes things. But anyone who has been on the receiving end of an apology that did not land knows that sorry alone is often not enough. This lesson explains why that is and what an apology actually needs to include to do the job it is meant to do.

Lesson 3

What Your Attachment Style Does To Repair

Our attachment patterns do not disappear when we are trying to repair. In fact, they show up most loudly in those moments. This lesson maps the four attachment styles onto repair behaviors so you can start to see your own patterns and your partner's with more compassion and clarity.

Lesson 4

How To Receive Repair

Most conversations about repair focus on the person who caused the hurt. But receiving repair is its own skill, and it is one that a lot of people genuinely struggle with. This lesson is for anyone who wants to accept an apology but cannot quite get there, and it explains why that happens and what to do about it.

Lesson 5

When Repair Keeps Not Working

Sometimes repair happens, but the same ruptures keep coming back. Sometimes one person is trying, and the other cannot receive it. Sometimes the wounds go deeper than a simple apology can reach. This final lesson addresses what to do when repair feels stuck, and how to know the difference between a relationship that needs more tools and one that needs more honest evaluation.
