The Way Of Tea: Presence, Ritual, And Connection

With Eric 'Ashish' Turnnessen

Tea has been one of my greatest teachers. Not because of anything it promises… but because of how it invites you to slow down, listen, and be with what’s here. In this course, I’ll guide you into the practice of gong fu tea—not just as a way of brewing, but as a way of relating. A way of meeting the moment with presence. Across 20 short video lessons, you’ll learn the foundations of preparing and serving tea in the gong fu style—along with the subtle, often unspoken aspects of the practice that begin to reveal themselves over time. This isn’t about getting it “right.” It’s about developing a relationship. Together, we’ll explore: • How to brew and serve tea with clarity and confidence • The essential teaware and how to use it • Foundational techniques for gong fu preparation • Working with teas like pu erh and liu bao • Cultivating sensitivity to the energetic and meditative qualities of tea • Creating a personal tea practice that supports stillness, reflection, and connection Whether you’re completely new to tea or looking to deepen your existing practice, this course offers a simple, grounded entry point. You can engage with this as a daily ritual, a contemplative pause, or a way of sharing presence with others. Over time, you may find that tea becomes less about what you’re doing… and more about how you’re being.
