Rest & Renewal: Learning How To Truly Replenish Yourself

With Mark Rowland

This course is designed for anyone who feels tired yet finds it difficult to truly rest. Many people know they need to slow down, but notice that even when they stop, the body and mind remain alert, restless, or unchanged. This course offers a gentle, grounded approach to understanding why that happens and how renewal can begin to feel more accessible over time. Across the course, you’ll explore how patterns of busyness, responsibility, and emotional holding can shape your relationship with rest. Through short reflective teachings and longer guided practices, you’ll be supported in noticing what helps you feel more settled, supported, and at ease in your own way. Rather than asking you to achieve calm or reach a particular state, each session invites awareness, patience, and self-understanding. You’ll learn how to recognise different forms of tiredness, listen more closely to your body’s signals, and create small conditions that allow energy to return naturally. This course is suitable for all experience levels. You’re encouraged to move at your own pace, repeat sessions if helpful, and return to the practices whenever you need a place to pause and reset.

Meet your Teacher

Mark Rowland is a meditation teacher and sound practitioner who creates gentle, grounded practices to support rest, emotional balance, and self-understanding. His work is informed by mindfulness, compassion-based approaches, and a deep respect for the nervous system and the body’s natural rhythms. Mark’s teaching style is calm, accessible, and non-directive. He places emphasis on meeting people where they are, rather than asking them to change or fix themselves. His sessions often explore themes of rest, presence, and self-kindness, particularly for those who feel overwhelmed, tired, or disconnected from their own needs. Through his courses and meditations on Insight Timer, Mark aims to offer spaces where listeners can slow down, feel supported, and reconnect with a sense of steadiness and ease in their own time.

Lesson 1

Why Rest Can Be So Hard

On this first day, we explore why rest can feel unexpectedly difficult, even when we are tired and genuinely want to slow down. Many of us have learned to stay alert, productive, or emotionally steady for long periods of time, and those habits do not immediately soften when life offers a pause. Today’s session offers understanding and reassurance, helping you relate to rest with more patience and kindness, while gently introducing a way of slowing down that places no demands on you.

Lesson 2

Different Kinds Of Tiredness

On this second day, we explore how tiredness can show up in different ways, and why rest doesn’t always meet every kind of fatigue. Many people experience physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion all at once, yet respond to them in the same way. Today’s session supports a more attentive relationship with your energy, helping you notice what kind of tiredness is present and what feels most supportive in response.

Lesson 3

Renewal As A Living Rhythm

On this final day, we explore renewal as something that can be woven gently into daily life, rather than saved for moments of exhaustion. Many people associate renewal with recovery after burnout, yet it often grows through small, regular pauses that support the body and mind over time. Today’s session invites a softer relationship with energy, helping you notice how renewal can be supported in simple, realistic ways.

Very beautiful course! 🤗❤️ It helped me open up to rest as a way to be kind and gentle with myself. The idea of creating small pauses through the day was very interesting to me. Thank you for creating this! 🙏🪷
