COURSE
With Zachary Phillips
This course will show you how to significantly reduce the severity and duration of your daily suffering. No matter what we do, no matter how well we live, pain is inevitable. We have finite lives and constant needs that must be met. Accidents, injuries, illness, and eventually death comes for us all. These things cannot be avoided. But we can stop ourselves from making it worse, from falling into rumination, fear, anxiety, faulty cognitions, and downward cycles of unnecessarily and unhelpfully beating ourselves up: - Dwelling in fear of pain continuing - Ruminating over what our suffering ‘means’ - Making unhealthy comparisons to others or an unattainable ideal This course will reframe your suffering using the Buddhist concept of ‘the second arrow’ – highlighting how we may not be able to stop bad things arising, but we can stop (or at least positively alter) our internal response to them. You will learn how to identify and address distressing thoughts through the use of mindfulness meditation techniques, routine change, cognitive reframing, and habit building. This course is a quick and accessible way to begin eliminating unnecessary suffering from your life. I look forward to seeing you in the first session!
