Coming Home To Yourself: A 7-Day Mindfulness Journey

With Benjamin Wood

Welcome to "Coming Home to Yourself," a seven-day mindfulness journey designed to help you cultivate greater presence, self-awareness, and compassion in your daily life. Mindfulness isn't about stopping thoughts or achieving a state of perfect calm. It is about learning to meet ourselves and our experiences with curiosity, kindness, and acceptance. Over the next seven days, you'll explore different aspects of mindfulness practice. Each day builds upon the previous one, offering practical tools to help you feel more grounded, connected, and resilient. There is no right or wrong way to do this course. Some days may feel easier than others. Simply bring yourself exactly as you are. Let's begin.

Meet your Teacher

My mindfulness journey began in 2019, during a time when I was looking for a healthier way to navigate the pressures and pace of modern life. Like many people, I found myself caught up in constant busyness, overthinking, and the demands of everyday life. Discovering mindfulness gave me something incredibly valuable, it taught me how to slow down, become more present, and respond to life's challenges with greater calm, awareness, and self-compassion. The positive impact mindfulness had on my own life inspired me to learn more, and I went on to qualify as a mindfulness teacher with mindfulness now at the national mindfulness college. Today, it's a real privilege to share these practices with others. My hope is that the techniques and reflections in this course will help you find a little more peace, balance, and connection in your own life, just as mindfulness has done for me.

Lesson 1

Arriving in the Present Moment

Much of our lives are spent replaying the past or anticipating the future. Mindfulness invites us to gently return to what is happening right now. The present moment is where life unfolds. By learning to anchor our attention here, we begin to cultivate greater clarity and peace. Today's practice is simply about noticing when the mind wanders and gently returning to the breath without judgement.

Lesson 2

Connecting with the Body

Our bodies are constantly communicating with us, yet we often move through life disconnected from these signals. Mindfulness helps us develop a deeper relationship with the body, allowing us to recognise tension, comfort, fatigue, and ease. Today's practice is an invitation to listen.

Lesson 3

Working with Thoughts

Many of us believe every thought we think. Mindfulness teaches us that thoughts are mental events, not necessarily facts. Rather than becoming entangled in our thinking, we can learn to observe thoughts as they come and go. This creates space between us and our habitual patterns

Lesson 4

Meeting Emotions with Compassion

motions are part of being human. Often, we resist difficult emotions or become overwhelmed by them. Mindfulness allows us to acknowledge emotions with openness and compassion, recognising that emotions are temporary experiences. Today's practice focuses on making space for whatever is present.

Lesson 5

Cultivating Gratitude and Appreciation

Our minds naturally focus on problems and potential threats. Gratitude practice helps balance this tendency by intentionally noticing what is supportive and nourishing. Gratitude does not ignore life's challenges. It simply broadens our awareness to include what is also good.

Lesson 6

Bringing Mindfulness into Everyday Life

Mindfulness is not limited to formal meditation practice. Every moment offers an opportunity to wake up and become more present. Simple activities such as eating, walking, listening, or drinking a cup of tea can become mindfulness practices. Today's focus is integrating mindfulness into ordinary moments.

Lesson 7

Moving Forward with Intention

Mindfulness is a lifelong practice rather than a destination. Progress isn't measured by how calm we become but by how we relate to ourselves and our experiences. As this course concludes, consider what you have learned and how you wish to continue your journey. The most meaningful changes often come through small, consistent acts of awareness.
