So find a quiet and comfortable place to sit or lie down,
Where you won't be disturbed.
Close your eyes and take a couple of deep breaths,
Allowing your mind and body to relax naturally.
Just keep your attention on the breath for now.
If at any point you get distracted,
Simply bring the attention back to the exercise.
And now,
Imagine yourself standing in a vast,
Open field.
Notice the textures,
Colours,
And ambience of this landscape.
In the heart of this field stands a tall,
Strong wand.
This wand is a symbol of your unique beliefs,
Resilience,
And the challenges you've decided to take on.
Surrounding the central wand,
There are six other wands,
Each one representing a challenge or opposing force you're currently facing.
Observe these wands,
Acknowledging their presence without judgement or fear.
Approach the central wand and take hold of it.
Take a moment to examine its features,
Feeling its strength and steadiness.
Feel your resilience and bravery,
As though standing your ground against the challenges that face you.
And now,
You're going to ask yourself a series of questions.
And as you do,
Rather than thinking of an answer,
Simply state the question and see what arises.
What is it that I'm defending with such passion?
Is it a belief,
A goal,
Or an aspect of myself?
What principles or values are at the heart of my current challenges?
Reflect on the opposing forces,
Symbolised by the other six wands.
Ask yourself,
What alternatives might exist to overcome these challenges?
Where might I be closing myself off to solutions?
Now,
Imagine a radiant light enveloping you and the central wand.
Allow this energy to aid you in distinguishing the battles worth fighting from those that might be unnecessarily draining your energy.
Express gratitude for this experience and the insights gained and make a commitment to stand your ground where it matters and to adopt flexibility where it can lead to peace and progress.
