Hi,
I'm Lisa Wagner and welcome to Positive Pagan.
Today I want to talk about natural ways to celebrate Ostara.
A lot of times when the wheel of the year turns and another celebration comes up,
We can feel overwhelmed and busy.
So what I like to do is just bring it back to the basics and just celebrate these wonderful turns in a natural way.
A couple of ways that I like to celebrate include getting up at dawn on the day of Ostara.
Basically spring has arrived and no matter where you are in the world,
Even if there's snow still coming or if your seasons don't change much,
There is a certain energy to spring and Ostara celebrates that.
So begin your day,
Wake up and greet that beautiful sun and whether it be in silence or with chanting or singing,
Do any of those things or set intentions and just start your day with the hope and the renewal that this time of the year brings.
Other things I like to do include going to labyrinths.
You can find whatever labyrinth is near your area with www.
Labyrinthlocator.
Com and I think you just key in your zip code and you can find whatever labyrinth is in your area.
I love labyrinths.
It takes you on a journey.
It takes you down to the present moment as you walk in the spiral or whatever shape that the labyrinth is in and it's a beautiful way to celebrate Ostara.
If you can and if it's allowed,
You can bring some bird seed to scatter as you go through the labyrinth or at least bring an offering.
Usually labyrinths have a little center area where you can bring a coin or a special stone or a trinket that you'd like to leave behind with thanks.
So definitely find a labyrinth or maybe you can create one in your own home,
In your garden area.
I've known people that do it on their decks and you can do it with flower petals.
Maybe you can make a small one in bird seed in your front yard and then that way the birds can enjoy it later.
So that's another idea.
Another great thing I love to do at Ostara is to set up an outdoor altar.
So you can just find a spot outdoors and this works too if you have an apartment or any sort of like natural area that is near where you live and you just set up a little outdoor altar.
It doesn't have to be fancy.
You can just include a few stones,
A couple of branches,
Things you found in nature.
I like to find the branches that fall down that are covered with lichen.
They just seem so magical and mystical to me.
So I like to include those in my outdoor altar.
Pine cones,
Special stones,
Seashells from past trips,
Just whatever calls to you.
You can set up an outdoor altar and then you can spend time at it on Ostara and future mornings or evenings,
Just a place to spend some special time to really get grounded and spend time with your deities or with nature or whatever moves you.
Spring is also a great time to cleanse and clear.
So it's a great time to clear off your altar and begin anew and perhaps you clear everything off and just begin simply.
You could try doing one of those things.
Clear something in your life that needs clearing.
We all have a kitchen junk drawer.
You can start with that or you could clean out your clothes as you're switching them over from winter to spring clothing and donate them to a shelter or a local charity that could use your items of clothing or have a yard sale and sell your items and then take that money and donate it.
So that way it can benefit other people as well as you clear your life.
And I promise you the feeling that you have from having less items is well worth it.
It brings about a lightness that is really beneficial.
Start a new habit.
So on a star,
Why not begin a new habit that will take you all the way through to Beltane.
So for six weeks,
Try something new,
Whether it's adding more water to your daily habits,
Whether it's exercise,
The dreaded exercise,
Whether it's more reading and less social media,
You can start a habit on that day and then you'll know the end is in sight.
You'll know it's been a good day for six weeks.
So by that point,
You will know whether the habit will be part of your daily routine or if it's something that just didn't really resonate with you after all.
But I like to do that.
And a star really has a really good positive renewal energy,
Things growing,
Things moving.
And so you can really tap into that energy and keep those resolutions or habits or anything that you want to do that would benefit you that you've been wanting to try or even maybe just starting a new hobby.
You could try that as well and try it for six weeks.
And you may end up with something that really enriches your life or you've experienced it and that was enough and it was time to say goodbye.
And you could do that at Beltane or definitely you can obviously give up before then.
So don't feel like you have to wait till Beltane.
It's sort of a time period where the end is in sight and it's doable.
You can get something done.
Other things I like to do for Ostara is I like to work with dandelions in my magic.
So gather some dandelions and put them around a candle,
Whatever color candle that corresponds with whatever intention you want to use.
So for example,
I use green candles.
Green candles are good for abundance.
They're also good for creativity and you can create a ring of dandelions around them or use the dandelions to decorate your altar.
You can also add them to a jar and do some spell work with it and add other items such as crystals,
Words of intention that you can add to your jar and charge them under the moonlight,
Especially in the next six weeks.
Just put it under the moonlight so that it will grow in power and intention and when you're done,
You can return the items to nature.
But in the meantime,
You'll have their sunny,
Beautiful blossoms adding a touch of color to your altar.
Definitely feels very spring-like.
So those are just some ways.
I hope they are beneficial for you.
I hope they inspire you to create your own Ostara rituals and methods and ways to celebrate and I hope it will be a wonderful celebration for you.
And yay,
Spring is here.
We survived the winter and bless it be,
It's a wonderful time of year.
I hope it is full of enjoyment and nature and magic for you.
