Lord,
Make me an instrument of heaven's peace.
Where there's hatred,
Let my life plant love.
Where there's injury,
May I freely give pardon.
Where there's discord,
May I embody your harmony.
Where there is error,
May I live in full truth.
Where there is doubt,
Let me dawn faith.
Where there's despair,
May I gift hope.
Where there are shadows,
Please let your light glow from within.
Where there is sadness,
May I tenderly share joy.
O Father of Lights,
Please grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console as your hands,
Mouth,
And feet.
Not so much to strive to be understood as much as to understand others' circumstances and cultures through the lens of your perspective.
Not so much to be loved as to love loving.
Oh,
I want to love loving.
For you have said it is in giving that we receive,
Forgiving that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying to myself that I once again live,
Am reborn,
Renewed,
Restored,
Both being filled and becoming increasingly porous.
As a living conduit of your eternal life.
Amen.
