Get comfortable in whatever position feels best,
Whether that's lying down or sitting.
Take a moment to settle in.
Maybe close your eyes,
Focus them on something nearby,
Or just let them unfocus.
When you're ready,
Take a deep breath.
Don't worry about trying to breathe in any sort of rhythm.
Just let in enough air to fill your lungs and nourish you.
Maybe a few more breaths.
Now think of the first color that comes to mind when you think of the word calm.
What color do you see when you think calm?
Is it light or dark?
What is its texture?
Imagine that color surrounding you.
Is it warm?
Is it cool?
What does it feel like?
Let's check in with our bodies.
Where are you holding your stress?
Check in with your feet and your ankles now.
Gently tense them up and hold it for a breath.
Now let that tension go as you imagine that calm color moving into that space.
Now it's moving up your legs as you gently tense up your legs.
Hold that for a breath.
Now release that tension as the calm color moves up your legs.
Let's check in with our hips,
Our bellies,
Our lungs,
Our chests.
Are you holding any tension here?
Tension as you breathe in,
Hold on to that breath.
Now release it as that calm color moves in to fill your lungs,
Your belly,
Into your chest leaving only the calmness,
No more tension.
Now let's check in with our shoulders and neck.
You might be holding some stress here.
Let's raise our shoulders,
Maybe hunch your back forward and backward a little.
Hold that for a breath.
Now release your shoulders down as you feel that calm resting around your shoulders like a beautiful shawl decorating your body with reassurance and peace.
Finally let's check in with our arms.
Let's feel for any points of tension.
Hold it there for a breath.
Now release it as you feel that calm color rest within you.
Let's think about our face.
Sometimes we hold stress between our brows or in our jaws.
Raise your brows,
Maybe wiggle them a little.
Our faces are so expressive of all of our emotions,
The joyful ones and the difficult ones.
Take a nice breath in as you feel that calm color rise to your face and head.
Now your entire body is radiating with the calm color and you are connected with it.
The calm color washes over you and holds you gently but steadily.
You are safe within this color.
You are supported.
You're secure.
As you take another deep breath in,
The calm color glows within you,
Bolstering you against whatever you might face.
And as you open your eyes,
You can feel secure knowing that the calm color will stay within you and you can always come back to it whenever you need some reassurance.
