Come into a comfortable position,
Sitting on a chair or the edge of your bed.
And let your feet find the ground beneath you.
And for a moment,
Don't try to feel better or calm yourself down.
Just begin exactly where you are.
Sometimes when we've been overwhelmed or thinking too much or moving through too much.
We can get strangely far away from ourselves.
Not gone completely.
Just less here.
So today we're going to use something very simple.
The body knows how to come back through contact,
Pressure,
Resistance,
And release.
So we'll work with those today.
Let's try it together now.
Bring your attention to your feet.
And gently press both feet into the floor.
Not hard necessarily,
Just enough to feel the floor beneath you.
Stay here and feel that pressure.
And notice the places where your feet meet the ground.
Now let that pressure go and let your feet become completely unpressured.
Notice what happens when you're no longer pushing.
Perhaps there's warmth.
A tingling.
Upholstering.
Maybe the floor suddenly feels more noticeable beneath you.
Or perhaps you simply notice the absence of effort.
You don't need to look for anything here.
Just notice what the release has left behind.
So let's do it again.
Gently press your feet into the floor and feel the resistance.
And release,
Letting everything soften.
Stay curious about what changes when the pressure disappears.
Now bring your palms together and press them gently against one another.
Feel the meeting of your hands and the warmth between them.
Now let the palms release and notice what's left in your hands now.
Again,
Palms together with a gentle press.
And release,
Letting your hands soften and noticing what changes.
Now take your right hand and place it gently around your left upper arm.
Feel the contact of your own hand holding you.
Gently squeeze with a soft pressure.
Feel yourself being held.
And then release the hold.
And notice what remains in your arm after being held.
And now switch sides.
Your left hand gently around your right upper arm.
Offering yourself that same gentle hold.
And then release.
Noticing what changes when the holding lets go.
Now we'll bring this together,
And this time you already know the way.
Let the feet press gently into the floor.
And release.
Notice what's there after the pressure.
Bring the palms together with a soft press.
And release.
Notice what remains.
A gentle squeeze on your right upper arm.
And release.
Noticing sensation there.
A gentle hold around your left upper arm.
And release.
Notice what remains.
And now let the whole body become still with nothing to create,
Nothing to release,
And nothing to fix.
And just notice if something is softened.
Or feels more present.
Or perhaps there's simply less effort.
Let whatever's here be here.
This is the way back into yourself.
Not through thinking,
But through the body.
When you feel far away,
Just know you don't have to think your way back.
You can come back through something simple like the ground beneath your feet.
The meeting of your hands.
And the feeling of pressure and the moment it disappears.
And then you can listen for what remains.
Sometimes that's all the body needs to come back.
So take one slow breath.
Feel your feet on the ground,
And feel yourself here.
And remember,
When you feel far away from yourself,
You can come back through the body.
So bring both hands together at the center of your chest.
Gently bowing your chin.
Taking a moment of gratitude for this moment.
For your body.
And for your life.
Sending you all the love.
