The Rosary is made up of twenty "mysteries" (significant events or moments in the life of Jesus and Mary), which, following the Apostolic Letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae, are grouped into four series. This is The Third Sorrowful Mystery - The Crowning with Thorns. Listen for divine connection to Our Lord and Our Lady. God bless you all, dear friends. Image by Frantisek Canik, with thanks.

In the name of the Father,

And of the Son,

And of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

The Father almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth,

And in Jesus Christ,

His only Son,

Our Lord,

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

Born of Christ,

Suffered under Pontius Pilate,

Was crucified,

Died,

And was buried,

He descended into hell,

He ascended into heaven,

And is seated at the right hand.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

The Holy Catholic Church,

The forgiveness of sins,

The resurrection of the body,

And life everlasting.

Amen.

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

Full of grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou amongst women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Blessed art thou amongst women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Blessed art thou amongst women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

And to the Holy Spirit,

As it was in the beginning,

Is now and ever shall be,

World,

The third sorrowful mystery,

The crowning,

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

In the face of all my foes,

I am a reproach,

An object of scorn to my neighbours,

And of fear to thee.

Blessed art thou amongst women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Pilate had Jesus taken away and scourged.

Be full of grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Amen.

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

After this,

The soldiers twisted some thorns into a crown and put it on his head,

And dressed him in a purple robe.

Blessed art thou amongst women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Pilate came outside and said to the crowd,

To you,

To let you see that I find no thee.

Blessed art thou amongst women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Jesus then came out and said,

Here is the man.

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou amongst women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

You would have no power over me,

Jesus said,

If it had not been given you from above.

From that moment,

Pilate was anxious to set him free.

Be full of grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou amongst women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Here is your King,

Said Pilate to the Jews.

Be full of grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou amongst women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Pilate said,

Crucify him.

We have no King except Caesar.

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Over to them to be crucified.

Grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

To the Son and to the Holy Spirit,

As it was in the beginning,

Is now and ever shall be.

World without end,

Forgive us our sins.

Save us from the fires of hell.

Lead all souls into heaven,

Especially those in most need of thy mercy.

Amen.

To thee do we send up our sighs,

Mourning and weeping in this veil of tears.

Turn then,

Most gracious Advocate,

Thine eyes of mercy towards us.

And after this,

Our exile,

Show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

O clement,

O loving,

O sweet Virgin Mary,

Pray for us,

O holy Mother of God,

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

O God,

Whose only begotten Son,

By his life,

Death and resurrection,

Has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life,

Grant,

We beseech you,

That meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the blessed Virgin Mary,

Through Christ our Lord,

Father,

And of the Son,

And of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.
