Welcome to the five minute nature reconnect practice.
So before we begin I invite you to go outside so perhaps you can move out onto a balcony or a veranda or even better a backyard or a park or maybe even the beach and if you can't go outside please open a window and sit in front of it or you can even do this short practice in the car with the car window wound down.
So let's get our mindful bodies on.
Bring yourself into the present moment by deliberately adopting an open and upright posture if you're sitting or you're standing or perhaps you're lying on your back so please lie balanced and symmetrical with an open posture and let's start with a delicious deep belly breath to help calm your body and mind and I invite you to close your eyes and take another conscious breath and this time notice what can you smell notice any scents or aromas nearby I'm just noticing with a gentle curiosity what can you smell outside and I invite you now to bring your attention to sounds what can you hear outside perhaps the sounds of birds insects people wind rain just listen with a gentle curiosity you allow the sounds to help call you into the present moment just listening and I invite you now to bring your attention to touch what temperature can you feel caressing your face or perhaps there's another part of your skin that has direct contact with outside is there a warm breeze or a cold biting wind is it still is it hot or cold just noticing what temperature it is outside and how it feels against your skin and I invite you now to open your eyes and notice what you can see outside are there any plants or trees can you notice any leaves their color and shape are there flowers are there any animals or insects people what is the quality of the light like are there clouds in the sky what colors can you see allow yourself to look with a gentle curiosity cultivating a sense of wonder what season is it where you are right now and as we come towards the end of this practice I invite you to send some gratitude out to our precious planet to take a moment to realize and acknowledge the life-supporting connection that we have so I invite you to take a conscious breath in and allow your heart to fill with gratitude and as you exhale send gratitude out to our precious planet give Mother Earth some deep felt thanks and as we come towards the end of the practice you might like to gently start to reactivate and re-energize your body perhaps a wiggle of the fingers and the toes a deeper breath or two and when you're ready you can go on your way and I wish you all the best with your ongoing practice thank you
