This poem is a reminder for all of us that we are beautiful and unique just the way we are. We don't need to fix, change or become better/prettier to be loveable. Media suggest that we have to look a certain way to be seen as beautiful, and I'm here to remind myself and whoever needs to hear this, that we are the ones defining what beauty means to us. For me, beauty occurs when many different elements harmoniously play with one another. I appreciate the diversity of colours, forms and shapes. I love variety. I love unique expression. And same as every flower is beautiful in her own way, we can se nature as an example to rediscover our own inner beauty.

Finding true beauty.

My darling,

Did someone already tell you that you look beautiful today?

That your eyes seem so deep that they carry me away.

My darling,

True beauty is neither the form nor the shape.

True beauty is found when different elements harmoniously play.

In this joyful play of colors and forms,

Perfection is nothing more than a societal norm.

A norm that tries to dictate how you should or should not be,

Ignoring that true beauty is showing in us being all unique.

That there are so many different colors and shapes that in their own wholeness harmoniously play.

You are the one that chose them from many,

That decided to bring them together in your own body.

Into a whole that consists of many whole parts within,

That belong to a bigger and all-encompassing union.

You chose your body with all forms and shapes,

With all the wounds,

Treasures and experiences.

Because ultimately they all belong to you and all serve their purpose to help you grow and unfold your truth.

Your true beauty that resides in your heart,

That has no form,

No shape,

No end and no start.

My darling,

True beauty is neither the form nor the shape.

True beauty is found when different elements harmoniously play.

Sounds become melodies,

Tastes combine in delicious explosions,

Smells carry us back to old memories,

Feelings flow through us like waves of the ocean.

True beauty can found in all of our senses and yet it can't be reduced to this,

It is endless.

It's in seeing a child playing full of joy,

It's in listening and dancing to your favorite song.

It's in becoming still and closing your eyes,

Observing the movement that goes on inside.

My darling,

You are and have always been beautiful and strong.

Awaken to the knowing that you have a choice.

A choice to decide what true beauty is for you,

What elements harmoniously play to make your heart sing.

True beauty is neither this nor that,

It's individual taste that is very unique.

So stop judging others if they cannot see the beauty I see in you and you see in me.

Not everyone will recognize your beautiful light and yet it is shining and guiding me through the night.

Through darkness and shadows,

Resistance and fear,

Helping me to recognize the true beauty in me.

My darling,

True beauty is neither the form nor the shape.

True beauty is finding the wholeness within ourselves.

Started crying from the very first words, and had to listen to it twice because I was crying so much. Nobody has ever spoken to me that way. I speak to myself that way, but I've never heard it from outside before. Thank you for this immeasurable gift. I'll need to listen to this over and over.
