Good morning.
This is a set of aspirations that I recite every morning.
It helps focus me on what's important as I start my day,
And it helps to some degree to relieve any fear I might have about what might come today.
Take a comfortable seat,
Either upright but not straining,
Or lying on your back but maintaining energetic attention.
Feel free to close your eyes,
Or let your eyes remain unfocused.
We will begin with the sound of the bell.
Good morning,
Universe.
You are vast and abiding,
And my experience of you is tiny and fleeting.
Good morning,
Humanity.
May I accept myself as one of you,
And you as one with me.
Good morning,
Reality.
May I see you clearly today,
And act accordingly.
When I need refuge today,
May I find it in my own awakened nature,
In the teachings that show me how to achieve peace,
And in the community of those who seek liberation from suffering.
May I foster the conditions for my own peace and happiness today,
That I may have peace and happiness to share with others.
May I use any good fortune today to cultivate generosity,
And any misfortune to develop compassion.
And may I remember that no matter what happens,
No matter what happens today,
I always have access to tranquility,
Equanimity,
Mindfulness,
Concentration,
Investigation,
Joy,
Energy,
Compassion,
Loving kindness,
Appreciation,
My meditation practice,
The things I've learned,
And the precious spark of awakened human consciousness that moves in all of us.
May I make the world a better place today,
If only by sharing smiles,
And not make the world a worse place,
If only by sharing frowns.
May I remember that I can always access happiness,
If I look around me with appreciation and joy.
Now,
Allow your awareness to come back to the room you're in,
To your body,
And to the day ahead.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
