Welcome to the Walk in the Woods,

Wonder in the Woods,

A guided meditation for relaxation,

Focus and energy.

This meditation is designed to help you clear your mind and refresh yourself so you can set the direction you want to take for the rest of your day.

First,

Get into a position that will allow you to relax.

Now allow your eyes to close,

No need to force them,

Just allow them to close in their own.

Next,

Take a deep breath and hold it for a second.

Now let the breath leave your body,

No need to force it,

Just let it leave naturally.

Now let the breath naturally leave your body,

No need to force it,

Just let it leave naturally.

Breathing is an important part of relaxation.

Breathe naturally and calmly.

With each in-breath,

Feel the oxygen relax your body.

And as you naturally let the breath leave your body,

A small amount of tension leaves with it.

With each breath you take,

You can feel the calming effect of the oxygen move from your chest into every part of your body.

And with every naturally released exhale,

You feel just a bit more tension leave your body.

Focus on this feeling for a few moments and notice the accumulation of the calming and tension reducing effects on your body.

Now imagine you are standing in the sunshine.

Feel it on your face,

Warming you and making you feel calm and in the moment.

And notice the edge of the woods in front of you.

These are your perfect woods.

Do you hear the birds?

Can you feel the perfect breeze that compliments the sun?

The green of the trees is relaxing and just the perfect color for your woods.

Look around you.

As you look around,

Your surroundings gain more and more detail.

Next,

Search the edge of your woods for the trailhead.

Have you found it yet?

It's there,

Right where it should be,

Ready for you to enter.

As you step into the woods,

You feel the coolness of the shade on your skin.

The feeling is wonderful and calming.

Smell the different fragrances in the air.

These smells are familiar and relaxing.

Hear the birds,

Hear the breeze rustle the leaves.

Such a wonderful,

Perfect day.

And now,

As you move slowly down the path,

You are wrapped in the amazing fragrances and sounds and colors of the woods.

Stop for a moment and appreciate these feelings.

Next,

Start moving along the path.

As you are walking,

You see an amazing patch of yellow to the right of the path.

And as you move closer,

You see a bunch of wild flowers.

The flowers are growing in the sunlight that is making its way through the leaves.

Notice how the yellow contrasts with the other colors in the woods.

What a lucky find.

Now,

As you start moving down the path again,

You feel total peace and serenity provided by this place.

You start to hear the sounds of a stream up ahead.

You can see a sturdy wooden bridge crossing the stream.

And as you step onto the bridge,

You notice the transition on your feet from the softer trail to the harder feel of the wood.

You stop in the middle of the bridge,

Directly over the stream,

And look at the water.

The water is so clear.

You smell the freshness of the water as you take a deep breath in.

You also feel the slightest coolness on your skin as the water flows beneath you.

For a moment,

Just take in the sounds of the stream,

The fresh smell of the water,

And the coolness on your skin.

Your woods are simply amazing.

This place,

This time,

Is yours.

You are here and relaxed.

There is nothing else right now except you,

The woods,

And the stream.

As you look upstream,

You see movement.

You see an otter lazily swimming back and forth,

Making its rounds.

The otter seems to be playing as it swims around the stream.

Soon,

The otter decides to submerge,

And it disappears around a bend in the stream.

The otters are lucky fine.

You start to retrace your steps back up the path.

You are full of calm and wonder.

You pass by the wildflowers.

They are so amazingly yellow.

You come to the trailhead,

And you step out of the woods and feel the sun warm your skin.

You are relaxed.

You are focused.

You are full of newfound energy.

And now that you have had your walk in the woods,

You are ready to return to your day with the knowledge that you can return here anytime you want to or need to.

But right now,

It's time to rejoin your life.

Open your eyes.

Stretch.

Become more and more aware of your surroundings.

Take control of the direction of the rest of your day.

I imagined being back at Lassen National Forest where i recently did a hike and yoga retreat. It was so beautiful there minus the otter 🦦😀loved this ❤️❤️❤️

I rarely opt for visualisations for meditation, but saw this and tried it. I found myself spontaneously smiling for much of the practice and enjoyed the idea of being both relaxed and having energy. A well guided and really enjoyable practice. Thank you.
