Dear Explorer,
A few days ago I was walking outside and the weather was a little grey.
That day there was quite a bit of wind and tiny droplets of water in the air.
Well,
Actually,
As I remember,
It was not really rain,
More like a light spray touching my face while I was walking.
I remember I could feel it on my cheeks,
On my hands,
And every now and then the wind was moving through my hair.
Usually when I pay attention to it,
The weather becomes something very physical.
For instance,
When the weather is windy,
The wind brushes against my skin,
The tiny drops land on my face,
Sometimes the air feels cool,
Sometimes almost soft,
And when the weather is sunny,
It's a whole other story.
Generally,
We could think about the weather as something outside of us,
Something we check on an app,
Or on TV,
Or sometimes in the newspaper.
But when you are walking slowly enough,
You realize the weather is actually touching you all the time.
And I find that interesting,
Because most of the time we try to ignore these sensations.
If it's windy,
We hurry,
If it's raining,
We run inside,
But when we stay with it for a moment,
The weather becomes an experience instead of an inconvenience,
Especially when the weather is not that great.
On that day,
I remember the wind was moving across my face,
And I could feel those tiny drops of water on my skin,
And it was quite an experience.
So,
Here is today's explorer mission.
I invite you for the next minute to notice how the weather touches your body.
At least next time you go out,
Notice how the weather is touching your body.
You will maybe feel the wind on your face,
If it's raining,
Probably a drop of rain will fall on your hand,
Maybe you can notice that.
And when it's windy,
You can feel your hair move slightly with the breeze.
How does it feel?
In case the sun is shining where you are,
Maybe you can feel the warmth of the sun on your skin,
Or you can play and find the difference between standing in the light and standing in the shade.
Just take a moment to notice.
No need to change anything.
Just feel how the world is already in contact with you.
Sometimes we think we need something special to feel connected to the moment,
But often it's already there,
In the wind,
In the sunlight,
In a single drop of rain.
If you feel like it,
Tell me about your experience in the comments.
Thanks for walking with me today and for listening to this No Rush Capsule.
And remember,
Wonder is closer than you think.
