Peeling The Onion

Today on Count. Now peeling the onion. I take an onion and peel it layer by layer. Where are you onion? Where are you the sum of those layers? I look in the mirror and see my body. Is it the same body as always? Is it? Since I was born I sit and think. Some of my thoughts seem to be the same as they have been all my life. Is that so? Do I think the same thoughts I thought when I was a child? And are they mine? Who is it that claims them? I go out into the garden and kick an acorn. Am they? It will be an oak tree. Or not. Will each leaf say they are leaves or that they are oak? And when they fall in winter and melt into the earth. What will they be? Mental games. Questions that intellectually I cannot answer. But I can tell you that when I see you and I look into your eyes and I see the deepest part of your heart. I know who you are and I know who I am. And I know without the slightest doubt that deep down we are the same. And that we are one. And that I found that uniqueness more seeing you than seeing me. Then I realized that it doesn't matter who I am. If I am an onion or an oak.
