In this meditation,
I'll give you a series of invitations as you spend a few minutes with your feet.
These invitations are exactly that.
Invitations,
And you may use your sense of what's good for you as your guide over my words at any time.
We'll offer our attention to a part of our body that has the ability to move us,
Ground us,
And connect us to place.
Use this meditation anytime you need a pause from frenetic or activated energy.
Or external focus with a need to come back home to you.
To begin,
Find a comfortable position to sit or lie down,
A position that allows your body to be enough at ease that your attention can settle onto your feet.
Should you desire,
You might take your shoes and socks off and let your bare feet be here during this meditation.
And if you're in an okay place for you to do so,
Close your eyes and turn your focus inward.
Otherwise,
You may turn your eyes down to the ground and soften your focus.
Once settled,
You might start to notice your feet.
What's the first thing you notice about them?
You might establish a connection with your feet in a way that feels authentic to you,
Perhaps saying hello to them,
Giving your toes a wiggle,
Or bending down to place your palms on them in greeting.
Here are your feet.
These feet are yours.
You might gently press your feet into the surface below you,
Feeling the sensation as it meets your feet.
How does it feel for your feet to touch and be touched?
You might play around here.
Pressing certain parts of your feet down,
Lifting others up.
Maybe you see what it's like to use soft or firm pressure.
What pressure feels best to you.
How does that pressure feel?
You might simply notice the feel of it without mentally describing it to yourself.
I wonder what it'd be like for you to ask your feet how they'd like to play.
You might play around with movement and pressure the way your feet want.
How is it to be in dialogue with this part of your body that has done and continues to do so much for you?
When life becomes chaotic,
How might your feet support you?
If you have a sense of that support,
See if you can let any amount of it in.
How is it for you to let your feet support you?
If you're curious,
Maybe you ask your feet what they want you to know about them.
You you Might you be open to how your feet communicate with you,
Your body's innate communication style?
Your feet might speak to you directly or in images,
Memories,
Thoughts,
Or sensations.
How would it be to open your heart to your feet's wisdom?
And what do you want to say to your feet?
If you feel called,
Perhaps you share any expression that arises with your feet.
Now what might your feet and you want to do together?
Is there something emerging that feels like a new togetherness for you and your feet?
Maybe you explore that for a few moments.
Before you return to your day,
What else do you and your feet need to feel complete?
Maybe you offer your feet some gentle touch.
As you find what's needed to feel complete,
Make your return to everyday life easeful and slow.
Perhaps you bring your body back to the room even slower than you might normally.
How would it be to sweeten your return by a few seconds?
When you've returned fully,
Remember your feet.
Know they're always with you throughout your days,
No matter how stressful life becomes.
Maybe this is the start or the continuation of an ongoing conversation with your feet.
Thank you for your practice today.
