Replacement Soundscapes is a recording project that provides a real life, natural white noise in public or private areas of your workspace to enhance productivity, relieve stress, and sharpen focus. Be somewhere else.

Recorded over 1 year in the rural Fengxian District of Shanghai, the project documents the disappearing farmland as commercial and industrial factories expand. Rain or shine, hot or freezing, a batch of small recorders was hidden all over the countryside for 24 hours before collection and captures a snapshot of the changing seasons. Lightly edited to filter out most of the disturbing sounds, the soundscapes contain the typical rural sounds of the countryside with distant traffic, farm noises, and passing conversations.
