You're likely here because you're new to EFT or tapping,
So welcome.
I wanted to record this short talk for those of you who might be practicing tapping on Insight Timer with me,
Particularly for the first time.
I'm Amanda Hudson,
A certified advanced EFT practitioner,
But one of the things I love most about tapping is that it's accessible to anyone and you don't need to rely on another to use this self-healing modality.
I want to walk you through some of the basics in this talk so that you feel empowered and ready to go do some of the guided EFT taps that are here on this app.
So tapping is very simply composed of two things.
Tapping gently on your body in specific places and talking or thinking through a particular feeling we want to explore more deeply.
Where we tap relies on traditional acupressure points associated with our meridian system and I want to walk you through some of those points right now so you can physically get a sense of what I'm talking about.
So when we tap we can start in multiple places but I'm going to start us at the top of the head.
So feel free to tap along with me and when you tap on the head we're just using both of our hands and the ends of all of our fingers to tap lightly on the top of our head,
The sides of our head,
And the back of the head.
So when you hear me say tap on your head you know that you're able to move around and cover all the surface area.
Then we'll move along to the eyebrow point.
I generally use my index and middle finger to tap my eyebrow and the point is just at the start of the eyebrow.
So using your middle finger and your index finger just tapping lightly at the start of your eyebrows and you'll commonly hear this referred to as the eyebrow point and then we move along to the side of the eye.
So with those same two fingers you can tap gently right along the side of your eye or close to your temple and take a few deep breaths.
Deep breathing and releasing is a really big part of tapping.
So deep breath in through the nose and an audible exhale out the mouth.
From the side of the eye we'll move to underneath the eye or the cheekbone point.
So tapping lightly there and if you're still using your index finger and your middle finger on both sides know that when you're tapping you can tap on one side of the face and you'll get everything you need.
I like to do both sides just because it feels better.
Then we move to under the nose.
So tapping right under the nose probably now with just one hand and then under the lip or the chin point.
From the chin point we'll move on to the chest and here again kind of like the head you can use both hands all 10 fingertips to tap lightly around your chest moving around the collarbone down the front of your chest a bit.
From the chest point we'll move to the top of the ribs so just beneath your chest underneath where your nipple would be you'll find the top of your ribs you can tap lightly there and then to the side of the ribs.
The side of the rib point is just under the armpit probably about a fist's width down from the armpit point and again you can tap on one side or both whatever feels most comfortable to you.
Then from the side of the ribs we'll move on to the hand.
So tapping the inner wrist gently and then from the inner wrist you'll be tapping the top of the thumb where the nail meets the finger bed from the top of the thumb to top of the index finger same point where the nail meets the nail bed on the side top of the index finger top of the middle finger.
There's a small switch when we go to the ring finger so instead of tapping the top of the ring finger we're actually going to tap underneath the nail or the side that would be pointing down to the ground if you held your hand out with your thumb on top and then back to top of the pinky.
And then the last point we want to explore is what I call and many people call the karate chop point so that's the side of the hand that you would use if you were going to karate chop something and we tap lightly there and another deep breath.
So those are all the points that we use.
Some practitioners will use all of these points and some will simplify by just using a smaller selection.
So on to the second part of tapping which is what we say to ourselves when we are tapping those points and different taps will have different themes but you can literally tap on any topic.
I find tapping most helpful for me to move through negative or stuck emotions and memories but you can also tap to access past lives,
Heal physical pain,
Think about future manifestation,
The possibilities are endless.
So this combination of tapping on our meridian points while exploring a topic allows us to access our subconscious in a way that supports our healing and creation.
Of course I could say so much more however I'd encourage you at this point to try any one of the guided taps here on Insight Timer and see for yourself how you feel.
