Research suggests that humans' optimal breathing rate is 5.5 breaths per minute. This works out to be 5.5 seconds per inhale and 5.5 seconds per exhale. Research also suggests that this method may help COVID survivors recover from a lingering cough. This meditation provides an original musical composition paced at exactly this rate with some initial guidance from me to get us started and a final chime to end. Let's begin.

During this brief time together,

We are going to breathe at an ideal rate for our bodies,

Which is 5.

5 breaths per minute.

And that equals out to be 5 and a half seconds for our inhales and 5 and a half seconds for our exhales.

We're going to breathe only through our noses during this meditation.

And we want to maintain a constant cycle of air.

So when we inhale on that higher tone,

We want to keep breathing until the exhale on that lower tone.

And keep exhaling until you breathe in and out through the nose.

And in and out.

Now we'll let the music continue to guide us with this higher tone and lower tone on the exhales.

Wow that was a bit of a challenge to accomplish but feeling empowered on taking a step toward moving this illness on. I might try to rake some leaves now! I really appreciate your track !

I came for the 5min of 5.5 breaths and stayed for the 20min version, loved it! The time flew by so fast I couldnt believe it was time up already. I truly feel so soothed and my breathes are still long and equal. As with the 5min one I am INLOVE with the way you introduce the sounds while giving us space to learn it and hear it. Pure perfection. Thank you for making different timed versions of this, namaste
