The Female Stoic podcast - How To Use AI Stoically
Each of these lessons with The Female Stoic is focused on where literature and philosophy meet. If you are interested in Stoicism and listen to my classic literature audiobooks, then this is for you. Today's lesson looks at how we work stoically with AI. This is a Guided Talk. It references the literature performed on my channel. All rights reserved. And welcome to today's episode of the Female Stoic Podcast.
Today's episode is entitled Stoicism and AI.
The reason I wanted to talk about AI was because There's a lot of conversation going on.
About the destructive nature of AI and How,
In fact,
It's a threat.
To us.
And I wanted to address some of the.
.
.
Concerns.
That people have.
With the use of something that in fact lacks that human element.
And talk about how we can incorporate AI into our lives without Losing.
The human element.
And.
.
.
Of course.
At the same time always honouring our higher self.
So.
.
.
Firstly,
I want to address the idea of creation.
Now,
Creation is something that is such a broad term.
But.
.
.
If we break it down into our everyday existence,
What we're talking about is anything we make.
This can be.
.
.
As small as,
For example,
A text message to something as large as a presentation.
For work or something we have created for our community,
For example.
And what I have come to understand about AI is it is not something to be fearful of but something That is there to be.
Manipulated and used in order to further our stoic message to help us develop Our voice.
But of course,
That has to be done mindfully.
And this is what today's lesson is about.
Let's say,
For example,
We are crafting a letter.
We are seeking to use AI.
After the creation as a way of editing,
For example,
Not generating the content itself.
We can use it to frame ideas,
Analyze our ideas,
And refine our ideas,
But the core message,
In order to honor our higher selves,
We must make sure the core message comes from within.
So we are avoiding using AI.
For storytelling.
It is not.
Human.
It is not capable of telling our story.
In our voice.
We are treating AI as an analyst.
And an editor,
But not as a creator itself.
We are honoring our higher self by putting the work in to create.
Ourselves,
To voice our ideas in an authentic way.
So let's have a look at.
.
.
Categories in which we can use AI.
Authentically.
So we can summarize patterns of behavior,
For example,
If we are using it for business,
We can identify categories of information and use it to select those,
Compartmentalize those,
But again,
We are not choosing AI.
As an alternative for our authentic voice.
We can use AI for prompts,
For example,
But we do not use AI as stoics.
That are seeking to protect our inner virtue,
We do not use it for something that will replace our voice.
That will generate a voice that is something other than our own.
We need to always give a nod to our personal insight,
Our personal experiences.
And.
.
.
Understand that AI itself is an external.
It's something that's going to keep growing in volume.
It's going to be there.
And be more prevalent,
But it is up to us to decide how we can use that and how we can in fact avoid reacting to the prevalence of that so that we maintain our inner peace.
So AI is used to strengthen our thinking.
It's not used to replace our thinking.
It is.
.
.
Not choose two.
Suggest.
Beyond that which we would Conclude ourselves.
We are still seeking to maintain that human connection.
That authentic.
Voice.
So,
To conclude,
AI is used to tighten.
To clarify,
To mirror our tone but not replace our tone.
We can use it for variation testing,
But We do not want it to introduce into our creation language we wouldn't.
Authentically use.
It is a tool.
Just as if we are in the garden and we select a tool to do the job.
We do not expect the tool to do the job on its own.
We do not expect the garden tool to choose where it weeds,
Where it digs and where it doesn't.
We are still the protagonist in our story.
And we understand that if we reject the idea of AI through fear that will only then affect our inner peace because that is reactivity.
We understand it isn't external.
We understand that it is outside our inner citadel.
And the only power we have is on how we choose to react to the prevalence of that.
So.
.
.
We are seeking.
Greater clarity.
Using AI as a tool.
2.
Refine but not to create.
That creation.
Is a reflection of our Higher Self,
Therefore,
If we are honouring that higher self.
Must come from within.
Thank you for listening.
I'll see you next time.
