Another gentle investigation of pain, remembering the shock of its arrival in the body, the mind, and the harsh treatment we often give ourselves when we would not do so to others. The shock and unwillingness to receive pain cause us an additional layer of pain and our inner voice can be very unforgiving which is unhelpful. Moving beyond that into softness and whispers of acceptance and self kindness. Treat ourselves and the pain with the gentle compassion we would offer a baby or a puppy or kitten. The pain is another part of who we are. This is the fourth talk in the ongoing look at pain and learning how to live with it with compassion and self-awareness. And kindness.
