Welcome to Guided by Moonlight Please make yourself comfortable.
Allow your body to settle into whatever is allowing you to lie or sit down.
Before we begin our journey,
Take some moments to notice your breathing.
Notice the breath coming in.
Amazing again.
And see yourself sitting in a car at a familiar set of traffic lights.
It's night time.
You know this place.
Beyond the traffic lights is a slow country road.
Disappearing into the darkness ahead.
The traffic lights are on there.
You are stationary.
Your hands rest comfortably on the steering wheel.
You feel the seat beneath your body and your feet on the pedals.
Quiet interior of the car surrounds you.
All these traffic lights change,
I want you to think of one thing that is currently worrying you.
Be a person.
Pet.
A decision.
Something happening in your life right now.
Or something that hasn't happened yet.
But you keep thinking about it all the time.
For now,
Simply acknowledge that it's here.
I'd like you to place this worry on the back seat behind you.
Carefully and lovingly.
Strap it in with the seatbelt it's secure.
We're not throwing it away.
We're not pretending it doesn't matter.
Or simply allowing it to travel somewhere other than the driver's seat.
Your Wally can come with you.
But it doesn't get to drive.
Notice the traffic lights again.
Changing to amber.
And love.
Gently press the petal and begin to move.
With a calm spawn beneath you.
You turn onto the country road.
And leave the traffic lights behind.
No need to look in the rear view mirror or check what's happening on the back seat.
And safely strapped in.
Keep your attention.
On the road in front of you.
Your headlights illuminate the tarmac ahead.
Not the full journey.
Only the part of the road you need to see right now.
And that's enough.
And continue driving.
Were the only car for miles.
On either side,
Tall hedges appear in your headlights and disappear again behind you.
Beyond them are dark,
Open fields,
Stretching into the distance.
You can feel the gentle vibration of the car beneath your body.
And hear the rhythmic sound of the tyres moving over the road.
Steady sound breathing.
Again.
You don't need to rush.
Or dry too slowly.
Or drive too fast.
And travelling at the right speed for you.
As you continue down the road you notice something appear above the landscape.
Beautiful me.
Bye,
See you.
Above a distant hill.
And draw it.
Against the darkness of the night sky.
Its moonlight spreads across the fields.
Across the hedgerows.
Onto the road.
Spilling through the windows of your car and across the dashboard.
Allow yourself to really look at it for a moment.
No traveling through darkness.
But you are not travelling without light.
The moon doesn't illuminate the entire journey.
Neither do your headlights.
You cannot see where this road eventually ends.
You cannot see around every bend.
And yet you continue.
This piece of road.
This moment.
Is breath.
Your mind may want to travel ahead.
Work things out.
May I ask yourself,
What if?
What happens next?
How this turned out.
If your mind tries to get involved.
Bring yourself back to your car and the road beneath you.
Is still moving your hands,
The sounds of the tires.
Before marrying a puppy.
And the road immediately ahead of you.
You don't know the outcome of the thing sitting on your back seat.
And you don't have to know in this moment.
Allow these words to be true for you.
I don't know.
I don't have to know yet.
I can be here while I don't know.
Feel the stillness and silence that surrounds you.
The fields and the trees out wondering what tomorrow will bring.
And allow yourself to belong to that same rhythm.
You may become aware of the pulse inside your chest,
Your own living rhythm.
And sense whatever you call that something greater than yourself.
Nature.
Spirit.
The universe.
Or something for which you have no name at all.
Allow yourself to feel connected to it right here and now.
You don't have to know what happens next to continue travelling.
Somewhere inside of you there is a quiet knowing.
Whatever comes,
I will meet it when it arrives.
Not now.
Not 10 steps in the future.
When it arrives.
For now.
On this world.
In this moment.
The moonlight continues to guide your way.
Somewhere ahead,
You begin to sense that this quiet road will come to an end.
But before it does,
Something moves out of the edge of your headlights.
A creature.
It appears from the darkness and crosses the road ahead of you,
Moving towards the Moonlight.
Allow whatever form this creature wants to take to appear.
It might be a favourite animal,
Or something unexpected.
You might see it fully,
Or you might just catch a glimpse.
Make a note of what that creature is,
Its movement and its shape.
How do you feel when you see it?
Receive this encounter as a message.
What might it be reminding you of?
Hold this creature in your heart as you continue along the final stretch of road.
And now coming up to a T-junction.
Brake and slow the car and come to a stop.
The road goes left.
Or run.
You don't know where either of these directions ultimately meet.
Which way is correct.
What if I choose the wrong way?
You don't need to know.
I want you to feel.
In your hands.
I feel a little buggy.
Happy New Year!
And allow yourself to choose.
Look left.
Look right into size.
This doesn't have to be.
Perfect decision.
You're simply choosing the next piece of road to travel by.
Trust the direction that comes.
Turn the steering wheel.
We're calm,
Moving again.
The road is now.
Open up.
And lights will start to appear around you.
The familiar everyday world begins to return.
Fill your physical potty where you are vested.
Notice the surface beneath you.
Any sounds around you.
Feel the fingers and the toes.
Taking a deep breath down into your belly.
And let it go.
Remember the road you have just travelled.
The worry and uncertainty are still on the back seat.
You didn't have to solve it.
You don't know how everything's going to turn out.
And yet she traveled.
You made a decision.
To go left or right,
And you continued.
That is what uncertainty asks of us,
Not to know the whole road.
But to trust ourselves with the next piece of it.
Before you open your eyes,
Remember the creature you saw.
And its message.
Message may reveal itself later to you or you can look the creature up but you don't really need to search outside of yourself for the answer.
What does this creature mean to me?
How did I feel when I saw it?
And carry that with you.
You can return to this road whenever uncertainty and worry pulls you too far.
Into a hole.
The road may look different.
The moon may feel different and a different creature may appear.
You don't need to see the whole journey.
Only enough moonlight for the road you're traveling now.
You are here.
You are connected.
And whatever comes next,
You will meet it when it arrives.
Take one final deep slow breath in and out.
And when you are ready,
Open your eyes and return to the space that you were in.
