This practice of Yoga Nidra is a sweet medicine designed just for you,

And for the rest and the healing that your spirit craves.

Take a moment to gather as many pillows and blankets that your body might enjoy so that you could find comfort and warmth in this Yoga Nidra practice.

You could lie down on your side or on your back.

Just choose the position that will most comfort your needs for today.

And as you begin to settle into this space,

Ask yourself if there's any rearrangements that you could make here so you could get even more comfortable,

As the extra effort is just what your body might need.

Feel your entire body start to rest and sink into the landscape of props.

Start to notice the parts of your body that are in contact with what you're resting on.

Could you sense any amount of space between your body and the surface that you're lying on?

Start to notice places of warmth.

Notice places that are easeful.

And could you allow those places of warmth and ease to begin stretching through all of the body and the bones,

Reminding yourself that this is a medicine practice for you.

Begin to notice the sounds that are all around you.

Notice the sounds of this recording.

And could you allow all the sounds to help your body and support your body into deeper rest?

We'll begin taking a few rounds of breaths just to support the brain in slowing down.

Take two sips of air through the nose,

With a long exhale through the mouth.

Two sips in through the nose,

Long breath out through the mouth.

And again.

Twice more.

And now you can allow the breath just to become effortless.

There's nothing to do,

Nowhere that you have to be.

Just invite the body to sink into the gravitational pull,

Connecting your body and your heart to the earth.

Let's set our intention for this practice.

I am calm,

Safe,

And connected to Spirit.

I am calm,

Safe,

And connected to Spirit.

Repeat that to yourself,

Quietly,

Two more times.

And now we'll begin a rotation of consciousness through our whole body,

Following my voice as your attention moves from different points to point throughout the whole body.

Bring your awareness to the inside of the mouth,

Tip of the tongue,

Inside the left cheek,

Inside the right cheek,

The roof of the mouth,

Floor of the mouth,

The top teeth and gums,

Bottom teeth and gums,

The hollow space inside the mouth,

Space between the lips,

Tip of the nose,

Flow of air inside the left nostril,

Flow of air inside the right,

Bridge of the nose,

Point between the eyebrows,

Forehead,

Left eyebrow,

Left eye,

Left temple,

Right eyebrow,

Right eye,

Right temple.

Could you sense both eyes at the same time?

The orbits of the eyes and the small micro-muscles behind the eyes resting.

Both eyes resting.

The left cheek,

Right cheek,

Left ear,

Left ear listening,

Right ear listening.

Could you sense the space between both ears?

And both ears listening to all the sounds.

Could you listen not only with your ears but with the whole body?

The whole body listening.

Awareness to the base of the skull,

The chin,

Sides of the neck,

The back of the neck,

Front of the throat,

The flow of air moving inside the throat,

Heart center,

Left shoulder,

Left elbow,

Wrist,

Back of the hand,

Center of the palm,

All five fingers.

Could you sense the touch of air on your left fingertips?

And the left hand and the left arm heavy.

Right shoulder,

Elbow,

Wrist,

Back of the hand,

Center of the palm,

All five fingers.

And the touch of air on your right fingertips.

The right hand and the right arm heavy.

Both hands and both arms letting go.

Nothing to hold.

Could you sense as if the arms were like extensions of your heart?

Awareness to the sides of the ribs,

The waist,

Low belly,

Pubic bone,

Left hip,

Knee,

Ankle,

Top of the foot,

The sole of the foot,

All five toes.

Could you feel gravity helping the left foot and the left leg to rest?

Right hip,

Right knee,

Ankle,

Top of the foot,

Sole of the foot,

All five toes.

And feel the right foot and the right leg resting into gravity.

Both feet and both legs heavy.

Sense the left side of your body and the right side of your body.

Left side of the body and the right side.

Could you sense both the right and the left side at the same time?

And now allow awareness to spread evenly through all your skin,

All your bones,

Nerve endings,

Skin.

Could you even sense awareness stretching beyond the boundaries of your body?

How far beyond your body can your awareness expand?

And as your awareness expands,

Could you still sense the body breathing on its own?

The belly rising and falling,

The magical workings of the body as you lie here effortlessly.

Could you begin to imagine your inhale moving up the left side of your body and the exhale moving down the right side?

Inhale the breath moving up the left side of your body and exhale down the right side.

Just an imagined relaxed breath up the left side of the body and down the right side.

Inhale up the left side,

Exhale down the right.

And as you continue to visualize this breath,

Could you imagine as if you were creating a circle of protection around your spirit,

Around your body.

A circle of protection that holds you and supports you.

Inhale up the left side,

Exhale down the right.

This protection is filled with a sense of ease and spaciousness for all parts of you to feel comfort and support no matter where you stand.

And now you can let that breath go and just rest in the knowing that spirit is all around you,

Always present.

Could you bask in the sensation of support here?

And now bring your awareness right behind the eyelids.

Sense the healing darkness behind closed eyes,

Any hints of light behind the eyelids.

And behind the eyes,

Could you begin to imagine your bare feet stepping on a sandy beach on a crisp,

Cool morning.

Your bare feet on a sandy beach on a crisp,

Cool morning.

Walking through a quiet redwood forest.

Walking through a quiet redwood forest.

A beautiful sunset behind the mountain peak.

A beautiful sunset behind the mountain peak.

An open,

Spacious meadow filled with wildflowers.

An open,

Spacious meadow filled with colorful wildflowers.

Resting alongside the river.

Resting alongside a river.

Watching the water gently run across the polished rocks.

A stream of water gently flowing over the polished rocks.

The fragrance of eucalyptus trees.

The fragrance of eucalyptus trees.

Sitting on a bench as a coyote walks by.

Sitting on a bench as the presence of coyote walks by.

Your body resting right here with the brilliance of Mother Earth.

Here you can rest with the brilliance of the Earth.

Pure presence is all around you.

All the support that you desire is right here.

Spirit pulses in all that exists.

Feel your body resting between the sky,

The stars,

All the galaxies,

And the Earth.

Could you feel as if the Earth has her hand at your back here?

Reminding you that all you do matters.

Could you feel love in all directions?

Coming back to the intention.

I am calm,

Safe,

And connected to Spirit.

I am calm,

Safe,

And connected to Spirit.

And now you can begin to invite your attention back to the outline of your physical body.

Feel the body breathing.

Start to deepen the breath.

Maybe even move the body.

Thank yourself for resting today.

And know that Spirit and the energy of all that exists honors you and sees you.
