Singing Bowl Conversation And Gong Bath Duet #1
by Bob Frye
A longer exploration of the sonic potential of playing two gongs in a call and response duet, in larger dialog with 20 Tibetan Singing Bowls. This dramatic track begins with 15 minutes of playing both the 38" Paiste Brilliant Series gong and the 28" Paiste Symphonic gong, exploring the deepest resonances and monaural beating that these two wonderful instruments can produce, using a wide variety of mallets and inviters. 5 minutes of focus on the low E2 foot bowl follows, providing a profound monaural beat creation that is most grounding. The second half of the Sound Bath features an expressive conversation among the 3th octave bowls, and later the 4th octave E major Pentatonic and C major Pentatonic / Chakra bowls. These are played with a new hard gong mallet, with deep sororities resonating strongly. An intimate and crystalline section featuring the 5th octave bowls adds a lovely shimmer, extending the implied harmonies, and providing a pivot point back to the Gongs.
