As the sun rises,
The soul,
Like the day,
Is new and new again.
For a moment,
As the soft light of dawn reaches above the horizon,
Bathing the morning with its rosy warmth,
Let's give ourselves just a little while to celebrate ourselves.
Are gently pulsing.
Aliveness.
Settle yourself,
My love.
A pillow at your back,
Covers to nestle under,
And let your eyelids slowly close.
Imagine sitting beside a river.
Bare legs on grass.
While you let your fingers trace a path through the coolness of wild water.
The ripples unfurling from your fingertips,
The chill like cold breath on your skin.
As you lie back onto the bank,
Let your roots thread into the soil.
While above you stretches the magnificence of a wide and open sky.
Clouds edged with the pinkness of the new day,
Birds welcoming the new light with songs.
Every cell in your body is vibrating with the same exquisite aliveness as the world around you.
Feel how sacred you are.
All of you.
Not a single part can be anything else.
Every atom,
Every molecule is moving as one breath held within the great river of life.
Draw in a long,
Slow breath.
Feel the air as it comes into your nostrils and the way your chest rises as it reaches your lungs.
As your breath leaves again,
Watch as your body softens and lets go just a little.
And another breath.
Long and slow.
Air drawn in.
Lungs expanding.
Body softening back into your pillow.
Long and slow.
Long and slow.
Long and slow.
Prana,
The sweet current of life,
Carried into you on each breath.
As you let your chest rise and then fall.
Rise.
And fall.
Feel that sweet current flowing into you.
Replenishing you.
Filling every cell with its quiet vitality.
As the sun slips higher,
Tracing its time-worn way into a new day.
Here you are.
Sitting on the river's edge.
Your toes touching the light danced water,
Your hands clasping dew-heavy grass.
Even with your eyes closed,
The kaleidoscope of light makes patterns and colours.
And perhaps it feels as though you could slip into the water.
So deep.
So calm.
So wide.
Because beneath the breeze blown ripples is a quietness within the indigo.
A presence with an ever-present steadiness.
I need to reach.
Only to lean.
And let yourself feel held.
Stay here for a little while.
And take another breath.
Long.
Slow Sweet.
Feel a current move through you.
While beneath it,
Nothing needs to move at all.
Ocean.
Below everything.
Breathrising.
Breath falling.
The river flowing.
A new day.
Beginning.
And you.
Held here in the centre of yourself.
Feeling the calm within your aliveness.
Just rest here a while.
Now Slowly bring your attention back to where you were resting.
The pillow behind you.
The covers warm across your body.
Light slanting through the window.
The noise of the new morning outside your room.
Before the day gathers pace and you forget yourself a little.
Notice that you are whole and alive.
Somewhere in the sky,
A bird circles,
Turning and calling.
There is nothing but life in the air and grace held in everything.
Now,
Take another slow,
Sweet breath.
And when you're ready,
Let your eyes open.
Here you are my love.
New and new again.
Welcome to your day.
