Welcome,
Dear one.
Find a comfortable position either seated or lying down.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Your hands to rest.
And take a slow breath in.
Gently breathing out as you close your eyes.
Again,
Breathing in.
And allowing your jaw to soften as you exhale.
And just focus on your breath for a few moments Inhaling calm.
And exhaling the day.
Now imagine that you are standing at the back door of a small old house.
The door is open.
And beyond it lies a sun warmed garden.
Take a step outside.
The air is soft.
It's not hot.
Just that beautiful autumnal warmth that settles against your skin and makes your shoulders loosen without you even noticing.
Somewhere nearby,
Bees move lazily between flowers.
Herbs are growing in unruly pots beside the door.
Rosemary lavender.
And stretched from one side of the garden to the other.
Is a long washing line.
The basket sits beneath it.
And inside are pieces of clean white linen.
But as you step closer.
You realize that each one is holding something from your mind.
A thought.
A worry.
Something you need to remember.
Something you haven't quite worked out yet.
None of this is frightening.
It's just all the little things that you've been carrying around with you you pick up the first piece of linen.
You don't need to know what it represents.
And as you simply take a wooden peg.
You hang it onto the line.
Than another.
And another.
One by one,
You take these things out of your mind.
And give them somewhere else to be for a little while.
We don't have to solve them.
You don't have to throw them away.
We don't even have to understand them.
Just hang them here,
Safe in the sunshine.
And let the breeze hold them instead.
And perhaps for the first time today.
Notice the space beginning to appear inside you Now take a slow breath in.
And a gentle breath out.
You see the washing line move gently in the breeze.
The linen,
Billows and dances.
Sunlight shines through it.
And something rather magical begins to happen.
Tiny specks of golden light lift from the fabric.
Like dust caught in a sunbeam.
They drift through the garden.
Over the herbs.
Past the flowers.
And disappear into the warm blue sky.
Nothing dramatic no great transformation.
Just a quiet little piece of magic.
The kind that happens when you finally stop holding everything quite so tightly.
You find a comfortable place to sit in the grass.
The earth is warm beneath you and the washing flutters overhead.
For just a few moments here there is absolutely nothing that you need to do.
Nothing you need to become.
Nothing you need to fix.
Peace isn't somewhere you have to reach.
It isn't waiting for you at the end of a perfectly organized life maybe peace is simply this a little space between one thought and the next.
Or warm breath.
The sunlight on your face.
Or simply the knowledge that everything can wait for just 5 minutes.
Now place a hand over your heart.
And quietly say to yourself,
For this moment,
I am here.
For this moment,
I have enough.
For this moment,
All is well.
Now take one final deep breath in.
And slowly let it go The linen continues to dance in the breeze.
Your thoughts can stay here a little longer.
We don't need to gather them all up yet.
And as you begin to return notice the surface beneath you and as you notice the sounds around you allow the garden to softly fade Gently wiggle your fingers.
And softly wiggle your toes.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Take a little of the warm garden stillness with you.
Remembering.
Sometimes the simplest magic.
Is giving yourself the room to breathe bless be
