The meaning of 'Teyyi' is earth, it is a word from the Kogi language the indigenous people of the Sierra Nevada where I was living for several months when this song was birthed. The intention behind this song is a reminder to connect with our roots, feel the earth, and feel groundedness. This song was born from listening to the deep inner silence and its invocation is to bring peace and harmony. It is a song of the earth and a song of the stars. The prayer in the lyrics of the song is to "calm the earth, calm the children of the earth". Honoring the sounds of the birds of the Sierra, the jungle, and the charango in fusion with my voice. I heard this melody in nature suddenly as I was strumming the charango and harmonizing with my voice. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed creating it.
