The Arthur Series Sea Time Arthur is going to the sea.
He watches his lady carefully.
She's putting lots of things in a bag.
The bag smells good.
Arthur's nose wriggles from side to side as he sniffs.
His lady stops moving.
She looks down at him.
His black nose is still wriggling.
She laughs.
Oof,
Says Arthur.
That smells good,
He thinks.
And he runs around the kitchen floor in a big circle.
Oh Arthur,
We're going to find the sand,
Says his lady.
The sand and the blue deep sea.
Arthur flops down,
Panting.
His lady puts a big bottle of water and his silver bowl in the bag.
She picks up a packet and it crackles.
Oof,
Says Arthur.
My treats,
He thinks.
He does another little dance.
His paws skid and slither as he races round and round on the shiny wooden floor.
He disappears into the hall.
Time to leave,
Says his lady and she picks up the bag.
Arthur's in the car.
It's very,
Very hot.
This is not the sea,
He thinks.
This is not the sand and the deep blue sea.
He's hot and thirsty and a bit cross.
He sighs a big sigh.
He closes his chocolate brown eyes and drifts off to sleep in the warm car.
We're here,
Says his lady.
Her shout wakes Arthur up.
The car door opens and a rush of salty strong air blows in.
Mmm,
Thinks Arthur.
He says.
His lady pops him onto the sand and Arthur looks.
He looks and looks and looks.
He sees golden sand everywhere.
He sees sparkling deep blue sea.
The sea moves and it shakes and it growls.
The sea growls at Arthur.
He runs away and then runs back.
He says even louder.
Arthur laughs his lady.
It's only the waves.
What a waves,
Thinks Arthur.
He trots by his lady.
Her toes are curling into the soft wet sand.
Arthur sniffs the waves.
They don't smell fierce,
He thinks.
He says just in case.
He faces the sea.
The waves give a big rumble as they crash onto the golden sand.
Arthur lifts up his head and the salty spray cools down his hot furry face.
Oof,
Says Arthur.
I like the sea.
And he splashes after his lady along the bubbling frothy shore.
The end.
