And welcome to this Yoga Nidra session.
My name is Julie,
And I will be guiding you on this journey.
Yoga Nidra is also known as yogic sleep.
This practice will allow your body to rest as if it were asleep,
While your mind remains awake and aware.
You will continue to hear the sound of my voice throughout.
If you notice that you drift into sleep,
Welcome it with kindness and without judgment.
It may simply be exactly what you need in this moment.
Lie down.
And allow the body to become comfortable.
Take a moment to find a position where you can completely be comfortable.
Allow your body to feel supported.
Feel free to pause this audio while you get settled and begin again once everything feels ready.
And there is nowhere to go.
Nothing to do,
Nothing to achieve.
For the next little while,
You are simply invited to rest.
Feel the gentle weight of your body being held.
Not only the sensation of your body on the floor,
Notice how you are supported,
Like the earth is actively holding your body.
Allows the muscles to fully soften.
And as you begin to settle Bring your awareness to your heart center.
The space in the middle of your chest.
Imagine a soft warmth there,
A gentle glow,
A quiet presence.
A warmth that welcomes you exactly as you are.
Feel the heart space softening.
Imagine the gentle warmth spreading through the chest.
The chest relaxed,
Spacious,
Open.
From the heart,
Allows this warmth to flow into your shoulders.
The shoulders soften.
The upper arms soften.
The elbows release.
The forearms become heavy.
The wrists relax.
The palms soften.
The fingers relax.
Now the entire arms are at rest,
In ease,
Receiving the quiet warmth of the heart.
And bring your awareness back to the center of the chest.
Feel the warmth expanding upward into the throat.
The throat soft and relaxed.
The neck releasing.
The jaw and clenching.
The lips soft.
The cheeks smooth.
The eyes settling heavily into their sockets.
The forehead soft.
The temples fully relaxed.
And feel the scalp softening.
And now feel the entire head resting peacefully.
Now bring awareness back to the warmth in the center of the chest.
And allow it to flow through the upper back.
The shoulder blades soften.
The middle back releases.
The lower back relaxes.
The whole spine rests.
The warms continue down into the upper belly.
The solar plexus softens.
The ribs,
The abdomen,
The navel soften.
The lower belly releases completely.
Warm and soft.
The pelvis broad and heavy.
The hips relaxed and at ease.
And allow now the worms to flow down into the thighs.
Thighs becoming heavy.
Knees soft.
Lower legs relaxed.
The ankles free from any effort.
So heels resting.
The soles of the foot soft.
The top of the feet relaxed.
The toes soften.
The entire legs now are resting deeply.
The entire legs resting.
And now sand the whole body together.
The heart,
The chest,
The arms,
The head,
The back,
The belly.
The pelvis,
The legs,
The feet.
The whole body resting as one.
The whole body bathed in softness.
The whole body open to receiving.
And now bring your awareness to the natural rhythm of your breathing.
There's no need to change it in any way.
Simply notice the breath arriving.
And notice the breath leaving.
The body receives inhalation effortlessly.
The body receives the exhalation effortlessly.
Grieving happens on its own.
Receiving happens on its own.
As you rest with the breath.
Imagine the heart becoming a little more spacious with every inhale.
And with every exhale,
Imagine any tension gently dissolving.
The breath arrives.
The breath leaves.
There is a natural rhythm of giving and receiving.
Moving through every moment.
And notice how little effort is required.
The air comes to you.
The Earth supports you.
The heart continues to beat without your control.
Perhaps you can simply rest in the experience of being supported.
Resting.
Receiving.
Trusting.
Allow yourself to rest here for a moment.
Receiving.
Softening trusting.
Now allow images to form as I will guide you on the journey.
Imagine that it is the end of a warm summer day.
The sun has already disappeared below the horizon,
Yet traces of its golden light still linger softly in the sky.
The temperature is perfect.
The air rests gently against your skin.
Carrying a sense of peace and ease.
You find yourself walking slowly along a narrow path through a meadow.
Tall grasses sway around you.
Their tips are paled gold from long days beneath the summer sun.
As you move along the path,
They brush softly against your legs.
The earth beneath your feet feels steady and welcoming.
A gentle breeze moves across the meadow.
You hear it passing through the grass before it reaches the trees.
The air carries the scent of earth and herbs warmed by the days of sunshine.
Perhaps it smells like wild thyme growing low in the earth.
Perhaps lavender hidden among the grass.
Perhaps sweet summer flowers releasing their fragrance into the evening air.
Every breath carries a feeling of calm.
In the distance,
Crickets sing.
Their rhythm seemed a part of the silence.
Somewhere farther away,
And all call softly from the edge of the forest.
The entire meadow feels safe,
Peaceful,
Timeless.
Something about this place feels familiar.
I thought you belong here.
Above you,
The first stars begin to appear in the darkening sky.
One by one.
They reveal themselves.
Quietly shining.
As you gaze into the evening,
You notice a tiny golden light floating nearby.
A firefly.
Its glow brightens and softens,
Brightens and softens.
You watch it fly through the air without effort,
Completely at ease,
Completely free.
Then another firefly appears.
And another.
And another.
Little by little,
The meadow begins to fill with golden lights.
They move among the grasses.
They drift through the branches of the trees.
Some remain close to the Earth.
While others rise towards the stars.
Their movement is graceful and honoured.
I thought you have all the time in the world.
You sit quietly and watch.
Simply watching brings a feeling of wonder.
A feeling of softness,
A feeling of being welcomed.
As the darkness deepens,
More fireflies emerge.
Hundreds now shimmer around you.
Their light reflects upon the grass.
It flickers softly across the leaves.
The entire clearing seems alive with a golden glow.
And you begin to realize that the meadow asks nothing of you.
The stars ask nothing of you.
The night asks nothing of you.
The fireflies ask nothing of you.
You're allowed to simply be here,
To rest,
To soften,
To receive.
The breeze continues to move through the grass.
The scent of summer herbs lingers in the air.
The crickets continue their evening song.
They're all.
Call once more in the distance.
Above you,
The stars shine softly.
Around you.
Countless fireflies continue their slow and beautiful dance.
Take one last look in the middle And gradually,
It will begin to fade.
Yet the feeling remains,
The openness remains,
The kindness remains,
The quiet capacity to receive remains.
And gently,
You will bring your awareness back to your breath.
Notice the natural rhythm of your breathing.
Notice the support beneath your body.
Notice the room around you.
And feel the calm that is present within you.
Begin to invite small movements into the fingers,
The toes.
Perhaps starting to breathe deeper.
And as you emerge from this practice,
Carry with you the quiet knowing that love doesn't always need to be sought.
Sometimes it is already on its way to you.
Sometimes it is already here.
All you need to do is receive.
Slowly open your eyes.
Thank you very much for practicing together.
This Yoga Anidhra practice is now finished.
See you next time!
Namaste.
