Lesson 2

The Polite "No"

In this session, we begin to explore the real meaning of assertiveness—what it truly is, and what it is not. Assertiveness isn’t about aggression or conflict; it’s about honesty, self-respect, and clarity. We take a closer look at the art of setting respectful boundaries and start practicing one of the most powerful tools in assertive communication: the simple, calm, and clear “no.” You’ll be gently guided to speak this small but meaningful word out loud, in a way that feels grounded and kind, both to yourself and to others.

My experience of Heather’s soothing voice and gentle invitations to relax brought me into a deeply receptive state. Her suggestions for improving individual mastery of clear and kind assertiveness were easy to apply, as well as thought provoking. I especially enjoyed her guided relaxation exercise on Day 4. Much appreciation for offering self-worth affirmations and referencing Louise Hay’s powerful mirror work practice!
