Welcome!
Take a moment to find a position that feels steady enough for the next few minutes.
You might sit or lie down.
Let your hands rest somewhere easy and if your body asks you to adjust at any point,
You can listen to it.
Allow your eyes to close,
If that feels comfortable,
Or soften your gaze toward one quiet place in front of you.
There is nothing special you need to do with your breathing,
Just notice that the breath is already arriving,
And notice that it knows how to live.
Feel the places where your body is supported,
The floor beneath you,
The chair,
The bed or the earth holding your weight.
For now,
You do not have to hold yourself up all alone.
Bring your attention to the space around your body.
Notice the air touching your skin.
Notice the sounds that are near and the sounds that are farther away.
Let your awareness become a little wider than the edges of your body.
Now imagine that evening has arrived.
Above you is a clear night sky.
You do not need to picture it perfectly.
You may see it,
Sense it,
Or simply feel the idea of open space.
At first,
Perhaps,
There is one point of light,
Then another.
And another.
Let the sky become wide.
Not empty,
Not distant.
Wide enough to make room for everything that has followed you into this moment.
The unfinished thought.
The conversation you keep replaying.
The question that has not yet found an answer.
There is room for all of it here.
Nothing needs to be pushed away.
Take an easy breath in,
And as the breath leaves,
Imagine setting down one small thing you have been carrying.
Not forever,
Only for this breath.
Again,
Breathe in gently.
And breathe out,
Allowing the night to hold one more thing for you.
The sky does not hurry the stars.
It does not ask the moon to become full before its time.
It does not demand the darkness explain itself.
Everything is allowed to move in its own rhythm.
For a few moments,
Let yourself belong to that rhythm too.
You may notice how small one human life can feel beneath such a sky.
And perhaps there is tenderness in that smallness.
You do not have to understand everything.
You do not have to manage every possible tomorrow.
You only need to meet this breath,
This body,
This moment of being here.
Quietly,
You might offer yourself these words,
I can be small and still belong.
I can be here without holding everything.
I can let wonder be enough for now.
Imagine the light above you,
Traveling across a great distance.
It arrives without asking anything from you.
You do not need to earn it.
You do not need to become more peaceful,
More certain,
Or more complete before you are allowed to receive it.
Let the light reach you exactly as you are.
Notice where your body softens when it is not being asked to improve.
Perhaps the muscles around the eyes release.
Perhaps the jaw loosens.
Perhaps the shoulders lower by the smallest amount.
There is no need to force any change.
Simply notice what is already happening.
Now let your awareness widen once more.
The body breathing,
The room around the body,
The night around the room,
The vast sky around the night,
And all of it belonging to one moment.
If a thought appears,
Imagine it as one more small light moving through this wide space.
There is no need to follow it.
There is no need to make it disappear.
It can shine for a moment and continue on.
Rest here.
You You are not outside the vastness looking in.
The same world that holds oceans,
Stone,
Wind and stars is holding you too.
For this moment,
Let that be enough.
Begin to feel the support beneath your body again.
Notice the temperature of the air.
Notice the nearest sound.
Invite a slightly deeper breath,
Without strain.
Move your fingers or your toes in any way that feels natural.
And as you return,
See if you can keep one small sense of spaciousness with you.
You do not need to carry the whole sky.
You only need to remember that it is there.
When you are ready,
Gently open your eyes.
