Welcome to your practice.
I'm Kristen Boyle.
And this is embodied living.
Today,
We will explore the liminal space,
The threshold between where you have been and where you are going.
This is the space of transition,
Waiting,
And pure potential.
For this practice,
Wearing loose clothing allows your body to move without restriction.
Letting the fabric shift like the transitions of life.
Begin sitting comfortably on your shins or cross-legged.
Rest your hands on your knees.
Palms facing up to receive.
Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
Filling your chest.
Exhale slowly through your mouth,
Letting your shoulders drop.
Feel the fabric of your clothing against your skin.
You are sitting at the edge of the present moment.
The past is behind you.
The future has not yet arrived.
You are in the in-between.
In this liminal space.
You do not need to have anything figured out.
You only need to breathe.
Slowly transition to all fours in a tabletop position.
Align your wrists under your shoulders.
On an inhalation,
Drop your belly,
Lift your chest,
And look up for cow pose.
On an exhalation,
Round your spine,
Tucking your chin to your chest for cat pose.
Move between those two shapes at your own pace.
Notice the movements between the breath.
With a brief pause at the top of the inhale.
And the empty space.
At the bottom of the exhale.
That pause is the liminal space.
It is a place of quiet stillness.
From TableTop.
Gently step your right foot forward between your hands.
Dropping your back knee down into a low lunge.
Sweep your arms up towards the sky.
Feel the stretch in your left hip.
You are suspended between two points.
Holding strength and softness at the exact same time.
Take one more breath in here.
Then release your hands on the exhalation and step back into your tabletop.
Switch sides.
Step your left foot forward,
Lowering your right knee.
Sweep your arms high.
Lean into the uncertainty of the stretch.
Breathe into the space you are creating.
Take one more inhalation.
And on your exhalation,
Lower your hands and bring your knees back together.
Widen your knees to the edges of your mat and bring your big toes to touch.
Press your hips back towards your heels.
And lower your torso down into child's pose.
Let your forehead rest completely on the mat.
Stretch your arms forward and feel your back body expand on every inhalation.
And the softening or settling or melting into presence on the exhalation.
In child's pose,
You are tucked away from the demands of the world.
Rustine.
In the cocoon of transition.
The liminal space.
The place of no longer.
And not yet.
Here you are leaving behind an old version of yourself.
Preparing for what comes next.
But right now.
You are safely held in the middle.
Let go of the need to control the outcome.
Allow yourself to just exist here.
Take a breath in.
And notice the space.
At the top of the inhale.
Take a breath out and notice the space at the bottom of the exhale.
Inhale again.
At the top,
You are no longer inhaling and not yet exhaling.
Then exhale.
At the bottom.
You are no longer exhaling,
Not yet inhaling.
Continue to breathe in this way.
The present.
And notice.
Now slowly roll your spine up one vertebra at a time.
Until you are sitting back on your heels.
Place one hand over your heart.
On the other hand,
Over your belly.
Take a final,
Deep,
Integrative breath.
The liminal space is not a place of emptiness.
It is a place of transformation.
And the more that you practice being in that space,
The in-between.
The no longer,
The not yet.
The more you expand your capacity.
To be.
In those times of question.
Those times of wonder.
Those times.
When you don't have the answer.
At least not yet.
As you prepare to step off your mat and back into your day.
Carry this sense of peace with you.
You don't need to know the whole path ahead to take the next step.
When you're ready.
Keeping your hands together at your heart.
Thank yourself.
For stepping into the quiet.
In between.
Aum,
Shanti,
Shanti,
Shanti.
Peace,
Peace,
Peace.
Namaste.
