Most certainly, I tell you, That is the only reward they will receive. But when you do righteous acts, Don't let your left hand know what you're receiving. So that your righteous acts are done in secret, Then your Father, Who sees what is done in secret, Will reward you openly. When you pray, Don't be like the hypocrites, Because they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners, So that they may be seen by people. Most definitely, I tell you, That is the only reward they will receive. But when you pray, Enter into your private room and shut the door, Then pray to your Father in secret, And your Father, Who sees what is done in secret, Will reward you openly. When you are praying, Don't use vain repetitions like the Gentiles do, For they think that they will be heard because of their many words. So, Don't be like them, Because your Father knows what things you need before you ask Him. Pray like this, Our Father in heaven, May your name be honored. Let your kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth, As it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. Don't let us be led into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom, The power and the glory forever. Amen.
