This breathing technique is called breathing through your skin.
You can do this practice lying down on the back with your knees bent and the soles of your feet flat on the floor.
Separate the feet wider than hip distance and let the knees come together.
Spread the arms down and away from the body with your palms facing up.
You can also do this practice sitting on the floor using a cushion or pillow right under your hips,
Shins crossed and the hands on top of your thighs facing up or facing down.
You can also do this practice sitting on a chair with the soles of your feet flat on the floor,
Knees in line with the hips,
Hands on the thighs,
Palms facing up or down.
Go ahead and take the next few moments to find the most comfortable position for you right now and as your body begins to settle,
Begin to soften the muscles of your face,
Soften the jaw and allow the upper teeth and bottom teeth separate.
Soften your throat,
Soften the shoulders,
The chest,
The belly and finally the hips.
When you're ready,
Take a nice long inhale through the nose and sigh it out through the mouth.
One more like that.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Now bring your awareness to the natural flow of breath.
Notice your inhalations and exhalations.
Letting the breath be normal.
Resist the urge to want to change it in any way.
Simply observe.
Now we are going to practice breathing through the skin.
For this practice imagine that every pore in your body is like your nostrils.
So you're breathing out through every inch of your body.
You're breathing out through every pore in your body and as you exhale you'll notice that your body softens into deeper relaxation.
The body soft as you exhale through every pore in your body.
Begin by bringing your awareness to your breath and letting your breath be normal.
Allow yourself to breathe out through every inch of your body as if your body was your nose and every pore in your body was your nostrils.
You are breathing out through every pore in your body.
Notice how your body softens with each exhalation.
Continue to breathe like this on your own.
Breathing out through your skin with each exhalation.
Letting the breath soften the body into deeper and deeper relaxation.
Breathe out through your skin.
Inhale and exhale.
Breathe out through your skin.
Now start to let go of breathing through your skin.
Just breathe normally here and then bring your awareness back.
If you're lying down roll to the right side and sit up in fetal position.
When you're ready to come up use your left hand to come up to sit.
Keep your eyes closed and then take your hands together at your heart.
Lower the chin to your chest.
Then keeping your head down start to gradually open the eyes so you're staring at the ground in front of you.
Then when you're ready to lift your chin back up.
Take a nice long deep breath in.
Deep breath out.
The practice is now complete.
